    If you've seen older videos you would see progress. Major progress. Autopilot is more confident with pulling out of parking spaces and more aware of it's surroundings so it's not constantly stopping for people walking by that are a cars length away. It's also more confident with stopping and turning and doesnt move at such a slow speed like it did back then. And this is an SUV. The Model 3 wasn't close to being as confident as the Model X is.

    Smart Summon seems very expensive for the very limited use cases. With most crowded parking lots, there is so much chaos that I would think it would be incredibly difficult for the car to process everything that is going on around it. I really can't believe anyone would pay for this feature right now. Maybe Tesla should call it a charitable donation so at least you could write it off. I would be embarrassed to admit I wasted the money.

    As someone who owns a Tesla I’ll have to agree! I would NEVER use smart summon in public! EVER!!! The only reason I use the feature is to take the car out of my garage so I can lock my garage and house, but that’s it and even then I don’t take my eyes off of the car. The feature needs a lot of work!

    My biggest issue with Smart Summon is I don't think it has a reason for practical use . Normal Summon ( the one you use to get out of tight parking spaces) does have a practical use because that happens all the time. But Smart Summon I don't see having a need for it. If you think about it I think you're supposed to do it if it's raining or bad weather and you don't have to walk to the car. But if you have to have the car in view , most likely you have to be outside anyway to safely. So you're standing in the rain to observe the car coming. Which in the same amount of time you could have just walked to the car. Right now it just seems like it's a neat trick you can show people but that's all.

    The summon almost always fails in my driveway. I have a ramp at the end of my long driveway. I always like to back up the car all the way to the front of my vacation home so that I don't have to walk up the driveway. Yet, the back camera almost always treats the ramp as a wall behind the Model X and the Model X just stops and cannot go any further as I intent it to .... lol So much for camera-based autopilot and summon. I call it features with sure limitations. Luckily, I did not pay for the FSD, I bought my Model X as pre-owned from Tesla website and it came with FSD and it was already $18,000 cheaper than a brand-new one without the FSD.

    Questions: - what happens if you keep pressing the button and there's traffic in front of it? - can you not just press the button once and just wait? - have you tried using it in a make shift, dirt parking lot (e.g.: imagine you go out of town and there's just a makeshift parking lot with rows of cars and it's not really a road so it's not going to show up in Google Maps or something)

  • @0226memo

    @0226memo

    8 ай бұрын

    If there's traffic in front of it or if the cameras/sensors detect pedestrians walking across the lot, it will wait for them to clear then continue. As far as the button I think it just depends on what your trying to get it to do. On mine if I'm having it park in a tight spot, I have to hold the direction arrow ( forward or back ) and releasing it will stop the car. But if I hit the smart summon ( go to target, or come to me ) I only have to press it once and it does everything by itself without holding anything. I honestly think it also has to do with which software version of Autopilot/FSD you have, and the vehicles surroundings

    You are. But you can probably take Tesla to court. Failure of summon feature. But tbh you need these failures to collect data and improve. There is no such thing in life of just being successful with no trials or tribulations.

    Video was okay. Ideal would be to stand in one spot and summon the car. The constant moving made no sense.

    Yeah to me that is incredibly stupid. Why can't you just press it once like an Uber or Lyft. That would be the future, not holding it down. Although that being said...It does give you control of the vehicle instead of letting the vehicle be in control of you, while at the same time making sure Tesla isn't liable.

    No thanks for me getting and using Smart Summons. Looks like too much fiddling around to get the car to go where you want. Plus the 6,000 dollar cost to even have this option. If it came standard with every Tesla, I might try it once and a while. Same goes with Auto Park. I think i can walk to my Model Y LR faster than having the car come to me. But, thanks for the video.

    Lol everyone saying I'll pass will eventually have to give in. This is the future. Starting in vegas Jan 2023 they are using fully automated lyfts and have a driver just in case a emergency. 8 months down the line they are gonna pull the drivers..then onto the next cities (LA ,NYC, mia) the cost will go down no need to pay drivers. I'm glad I was born in the 80s but I would sure love to be a 2 yr old right now and see what the technology world looks like when im 25. It's gonna be fun and scary.

    Be extremely carefully on Teslas. I just heard a case that my friend parked his Tesla on the curside in a neighborhood. After leaving the car, it pulled itself and crashed in to the house at the end of the court. The car was totaled and he has to pay the damage to the house. Image that you are the owner of the house.
