@@VehicleVirgins won't work most likely, as soon as you're on anything that it recognizes as a street it stops, also only works from approx 250 ft away from the car (that big blue circle that pops up with the car in the center.) The auto park does work on drivers side too, but it's honestly a pitiful attempt (and yeah it wouldn't have crashed into that pillar, but it'll get very close... )if you manage to time auto park perfectly, as in the perfect distance from the spot it will do it in 1 shot, but the visualization is so poor you never know what spot it's gonna pick. As someone who used it many times I can tell you on countless occasions it will creep forward extremely slowly when trying to adjust itself and I'm talking like 1in a second while traffic honks at you for taking forever. You can try the parallel parking for content, again not the best, you'll end up around.... 8-10in from the curb which is a bit much imo but that's because in the early days they used to curb wheels all the time... back in 2019 when the refresh came out, I went to test drive one, did the parallel parking, and crunch crunch bye bye wheels lol. Took it back they're like wtf did you do? So I took the employee on a ride and showed him how well the car "parks" itself... crunch crunch. On the other hand something like bmw or mercedes does a lot better with auto park.

🤦🏾‍♀️ I needed this after a 2-week vacation in NYC. After I got back, I walked around the Orlando airport for 90 minutes looking for my truck 🙄 Let's not talk about that time in Austin when I was so lost that the police had to help me find my car 😏

If you don't want it to stop randomly and the fact that it looks confused is because you are jumping around the front of the car, and it is trying to guess what you are doing... To get a better result don't stand in front of it and if you do just stand still.

The system is FAR from perfect, but he was making it 10x worse for sure.

You have to say "Elon, take the wheel" when you use this feature. It's the law.

Definitely true about the lines to park. FSD beta doesn’t work if there are no lines as well. By the what kind of rims & tire size? Looks great!

I used auto park twice last year and it worked perfectly parking btween two cars in a busy lot. Then it parallel parked and it was just ok. kinda far from the curb.

What camera do you use to record 360°?

The main focus of the Self Driving team at Tesla has been on FSD. Autopark and smart summon havent been updated in a long time and are super outdated.

How do you know it works when you test it when there are no real challenges around. Self parking with lots of cars and people around and summon with both moving people and cars around should be a good test.

For auto park for both parallel and perpendicular parking you are supposed to have it park between two cars. It works very well when using it between two cars. Great video though.

Auto parking only works when the parking garage is full with cars. I’ve seen it work perfectly in person when I rode in a tesla model s for the first time.

These auto parking features work better when there are cars in spots and you park between two. The Mercedes will parallel park in a 2 space gap of normal parking. It’s hilarious 😂

Tesla autopilot drives exactly like a drunk driver. It might get you there, it might not.

How about make it navigate though a bunch if cars parked all stupid and kids running around because their parents aren't watching them, in a Vons parking lot, that's a real world scenario 🤣

I think summon is really crazy. 5 years ago you could move a Tesla forward or backward automatically...now this system is on Hyundai's and kias. Kinda shows how far ahead of the curve Tesla is in this area. It'll be funny if 5 years from now, some other OEM release a feature like summon and journalists will act like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread!

The thing is it actually works perfect on Hyundai and Kia, and you can just trigger it with the key fob. With Tesla it doesn’t work reliable most of the time. Same with the summon feature, which even today is more a gimmick but usually leads to the car stopping in the middle of two lanes leading to chaos. And now they even removed the sonic sensors so self parking is now ruined. If you check out NIO you will see they are way ahead of Tesla for both autonomous driving as things like self parking etc.

@@Seitenwerk It worked on tesla the same way 5 years ago too. You operated the model S/X remotely by also using the key fob that was shaped like the car. It worked just fine back then. The summon feature also doesnt abruptly stop as long you continue to hold the summon button and there isnt any obstacles, once you release the button, the car stops. The intent is that youre keeping an eye on the car. The car does move pretty slowly as it comes to you and shouldnt be used in very busy parking scenarios, but its a very useful feature on a hot day or a really rainy day in a slightly busy space, it works just fine, which is great considering pretty much no other automaker has this feature.

@@Seitenwerk No nio, isnt really all that ahead, most of their features are still very new and are still being tested. Tesla has racked up many millions of autopilot miles and while they have removed ultrasonic sensors, the goal is to measure distances using only optics from the camera. This idea isnt novel and it is possible to measure distances and percieve objects using only a camera. I used to have a 1st gen iPhone SE that did just that through its measure app using only a single 12 MP camera, no radar or lidar sensors. It eliminates complexity and is cheaper and more reliable. I am curious to see more real world tests of the nio's abilities as self driving is much more of a software focused issue than a hardware problem. I visited nio's website and dissapointingly, their autopilot page didnt really give me much info about the car's actual capabilities, pretty much all of it was bragging about how many sensors it had. The self parking is also doable on a tesla and its a feature i use quite frequently on my model 3.

Common misconception. Most "private" parking lots cater to the public, and traffic laws are fully enforceable. You can get a parking ticket for reversing into a space (in some states with only rear license plates), you can get a speeding ticket, and you can get a stop sign violation in "private parking lots.

I would imagine that if you were to use it like at a mall where there is constantly people walking around, it would take even longer if it works at all.

Technically, you are still responsible for the vehicle. It's not a level 3 system like Honda's system.

I hope you didn't pay extra for auto park and summon. They are both useless. Makes a cool video though, very interesting. Thanks.

How much do you get paid by Tesla? To say that it works extremely well, when the car behaves very hesitantly, it's just ridiculous. It didn't work nearly as well as you claim in the clip. In Tester, Tesla Auto parking works pretty lousy compared to other brands. So I hope Tesla pays you well ;)
