If you drive around northern Minnesota, especially at night, there are two kinds of drivers: Those who have hit deer and those who will. I'm still in the latter category, but I've had close calls where I was saved merely by luck. My theory is that one deer follows another across the road, and it's the second one that gets hit because the driver doesn't expect it.

It has been a while for me. But I got a few as a teenager and in college.

ive had a couple close calls with deer driving at night, thats why i upgraded my high and low beams to the brightest street legal leds i could buy, now when the deer jump out i have a couple more seconds to react,

Hopefully they help you see in the ditches. Although sometime if they are running there’s pretty much no warning.

Yep. The deer bounced off the windshield. There were two definite impact points (rump and shoulder) where the deer landed broadside on my windshield. Everyone who saw that car said it was a miracle that deer didn't come _through_ the windshield. I was unhurt except for a very small cut from a piece of the glass.

Yeah. I had a z28 for a while. A deer hit the front. Flew up hit the windshield and flew over the car. Luckily it didn’t come through. Ive know people wheee the deer ended up in their lap.

Yes, well it pretty much hit me. I didn't even see him coming, running at full speed. 5K in car damage. It happened during the rut when the males are all amped on testosterone. Lots of deer here in the Southeast too.

I grew up in South Arkansas. It is pretty much a rite of passage there. Learn to drive, get your license, hit deer... I think I hit 4 deer between 16 years old and 22. Where are you located?

@@homestead_diy I am just north of Atlanta. Lots of people, roads & deer. I had just crossed a bridge over the Chattahoochee and whack! I avoid some roads now, especially in the fall & early winter. I have had other 'lock up your brakes' deer moments too and know others that have had deer crush their cars. So yeah I totally get the 'right of passage' thing.

That wasn't all that close
