    The model Y trunk opening height can actually be set to certain height by press and hold the closing button located on the trunk.

    Thanks for the comparison. Had to go with the MX myself. With 3 kids all in car seats, it just made more sense with the captains chairs. Maybe I'll see you out there on 29 when mine finally arrives. 😀

    Regarding the automatic trunk opening on Model Y, I believe that you can interupt the opening procedure by grabbing on to the liftgate. I have seen other KZreadrs showing that you can reprogram the stopping position by simply pressing and holding on the close button on the liftgate. The car will sound a chime confirming the reprogramming. That way the liftgate shouldn't hit a garage ceiling.

    Thanks for the comparison.. am waiting for our 7 seater LR MY. I agree on the comfort of the seat of MY. My aunt have MX and I thought I was wrong for saying MY seat is more comfortable and the 3rd row 7 seater of MX have very little leg room compared to MY 7seater 3rd row leg room.

    Thanks for the video, deciding between the Y and X, I am 6"7" tall, so any complaints about a person sitting in the front seat with THAT much of room is just complaining....in MOST cars I have less room than that.

    You guys have a really great channel. You are funny folks too. Thank you for the great content. Perhaps only recommendation is to get a better mic for videos like this. The basic camera mic pics up a lot of background noise but you probably already noticed this. You have a down to earth and calm delivery. Also you don't have the annoying club music every KZreadr feels they need to include. Great stuff! Thanks again for the videos and look forward to the new ones.

    The emergency release button no longer has a risk of damaging the window or trim since they updated its behavior to also lower the window, just like the normal button does. This was done in late 2018. You can now use both methods of opening the door without worry.

    Can you comment on: - the ride quality of the X vs Y on a road trip - you mentioned heat through the Y roof, how does it compare to heat through the X windshield? - Andy, what's your opinion on seat comfort in both vehicles? Wife and I are leaning toward the X as our only vehicle. We are retired and travel 20,000 - 25,000 miles/yr seeing the country, hence the interest in comfort. Thank you!

  • @FullStopUSA

    @FullStopUSA

    The ride quality, both cars offer a nice ride. The X has the air suspension which helps for a soft smooth ride. The Y doesn't have air suspension, but feels as good as my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee did. The heat coming in from the Y roof is way more noticeable than from the X windshield. But then the windshield stops just behind your head and the glass keeps going. The back of the X has small windows above the passenger seats which are very tinted from the factory. Finally the seats, they are comfortable on a long road trip in both vehicles. With the X I feel like I sit higher up which helps with leg fatigue on long trips, but the bolsters in our Y seats feel way better for back comfort. The X would still be a great long distance car as we've taken our down from VA to Miami and back, as well as out to Ohio and back comfortably.

    Great Comparison--like having his & hers views! You can add aftermarket interior shade to whole glass top. I do believe that the 3 and the Y now drop the glass on the "Emergency Latch". It was an over the air update on the 3 a while back. Test drove the Y, then the X. X felt smoother due to air suspension but not $30K smoother. X felt dated inside with a screen that wasn't as sharp & clear as the 3/Y. Key Fob on X--So 1970's! Wasn't going to spend $30K more for a vehicle with older tech. Just saying. The Y won.

    Using your phone as a key is great, but i would still want/expect an expensive car to come with 2 fobs. They are very useful especially if I don't want to carry my phone for some reason, not to mention valet (without using the stupid valet card thing).

    I really enjoyed this comparison and I've watched a ton of much better produced Tesla content. As a Model X owner, it's nice to see someone critically evaluate the car. 1) as others have said, get a better mic 2) compare apples to apples. Both cars should be 2020 model, or you should at least state that the X isn't.

    Thanks for the comment - we compared the 2016 X to the 2020 Y because we owned both of them. A lot of our complaints would still hold true (like waiting on the falcon wing doors). We actually recently decided to sell the model X because we liked the features from the Y so much better. Granted, the new Raven X may have solved some of our gripes... but at that price tag - we now we have the Long range model Y and Performance 3. Happy Tesla customers!!! (And we recently bought a mic)

    @@ericasuosaari2119 Aha! I'm glad you were able to find a setup that works well for your family. We have a 3 month old that makes us a family of 5. I had been one of the first in line for a Y (they called me pre-pandemic for delivery address confirmation), but I put in that preorder before we decided to have 3 kids. As a result, we went with a 6 seater 2020 Model X . Sitting 3 kids across is a tough sell, but I wish the Y had been an option, it's half the price. Unlike you, we still have a gas car; an Audi A4 which struggles to hold our family. Having now driven the Tesla, my wife has converted and hates the Audi. She's convinced she wants a second X to be able to comfortably haul all the kids. It would be our backup family hauler though. Based on your experience, do you think the Y can serve that purpose? How would you sell it over another X other than price? The Raven upgrade was quite substantial. There's a channel called BlackTesla where he reviews the difference and he says if you're looking to buy a used X, don't test drive a post Raven model, you will be disappointed by anything else. He actually advises against buying a 2016 model year because the car improved so drastically in just a year (he's owned 3 of them). The falcon wing doors are definitely a mixed bag. That said, they were made faster since the 2016 model as well. Having driven an early model 3 loaner, the old model 3 seats (the new variant of which is shared with the Y) were terrible for a 5 hour drive home from the service center. I know they've been upgraded, and based on your description of the Y seats, it sounds like by quite a significant amount. I think you'd find the same is true for the Model X seats. I saw you got a better mic, I subscribed and watched through some more of your content. Nicely done, though now I'm a bit sad your channel won't have any Model X content lol. Cheers!
