    AMATEURS!!! Fifth Gear need to do the test again with correct settings. Some facts first about the car: Tesla Model X Long Range "raven" (Non performance, non ludicrous) Facts about how to unlock the power: Tesla go more than a 1 second faster 0-100 KPH if they had set the suspension to LOW. Because the power is limited approx 15% by software, to protect driveshaft in STANDARD height or HIGH. They used STANDARD, or HIGH in both dragrace and around the race track. Correct suspension setting would give a lead in they're dragrace by a couple of car lengths if race was 402meters. They also didn't use LAUNCH MODE by pressing both pedals 4 seconds, that would shaved off even more time on the dragrace. Because of much harder take off and computer permit more power in higher speed also. Tracktimes would been ALOT faster in suspension setting LOW, or VERY LOW. Because the computer limits the power approximately 15% if suspension is set to STANDARD or HIGH like it was in both dragrace and around racetrack. Tracktimes improve dramatically when suspension is set to LOW or VERY LOW, also because of MUCH lower senter of mass. Tracktimes improve dramatically when SUSPENSION stiffness is set to SPORT. Because of stiff compression and rebound. They didn't use Standard (max) regen, that would definitely shaved of many second's on the lap times, because it prevents the brakes from getting faded. If all the settings was correct on the Tesla it would beat the E-tron on the race track and drag strip with several seconds, easy every time, even though the Tesla was only a Long Range non/not performance (Have less than half the power of the Performance Ludicrous "raven"Model X.. Because, Tesla Long Range would have 15% more power and much lower senter of mass and much stiffer suspension. This test was completely nonsense, make me think it was staged/paid for. Or they didn't take 10 minutes to learn how to operate the car correct. It's very easy in fact. 1: Suspension: LOW (or) VERY LOW 2: Suspension mode: SPORT 3: Launch mode: press both pedals 4 sec. 4: Regeneration set to standard (max) Re do this test please. But do it correctly.

  • @JackMott

    @JackMott

    Regen doesn't always improve lap times, as it can speed up the point at which the battery pack overheats. Depends on lap distance etc. Anyway handling tests are always a bit bogus, possibly they had suboptimal settings on the Audi, more generally the car that happens to have stickier standard tires will always win. When tires are similar then the car that happens to have a better track alignment will win. Such is life. eat arbys.

  • @fields1
    @fields14 жыл бұрын

    Tesla wins in any test because it’s more efficient, able to go farther, faster, seats up to 7, gets OTA updates, has access to Superchargers and the residual values are very good. Also, if you don’t have the Model X in the lowest air suspension setting you don’t get the full power output in order to save the U-joints. I don’t think they had the Model X lowered to “Very Low”. I also don’t know if they are using the most up to date Model X that has adaptive dampers and the revised air suspension. After having a variety of cars from VW, MINI, Mercedes, Honda, Infiniti, and JLR I can say by far my favorite car is my Tesla Model 3. It’s so fun to drive quick, the updates keep you from feeling like you’re missing out on something “next years” model has, and enjoying the vast advantage Tesla’s Supercharger network has in the US vs. non-Teslas that are stuck using a hodgepodge of unreliable DC fast charging stations run by 50 different companies and many of them are drastically lower output than Tesla’s V2 or V3 Superchargers. I just wish Fifth Gear gave a little more info on what they were testing (current X or something they found from a private owner that’s a couple years old)?

    What nobody seems to mention is that Tesla build everything in-house (HW & SW). Audi appoint the usuals for separate bits and modules, Bosch, Delphi, Denso, Siemens, LG, Panasonic etc.. All those modules have their own firmware. Tesla can update every module in the car, in one hit as everything is controlled by a very powerful central computer unit. Also, the Model X has the hardware "out the box" for level 5 Autonomy. Just some software, that's holding it back. I'm not a Tesla fan, but Elon has really shook things up in the EV world and the regular car manufacturers have got loads of catching up to do.

    If that were true Jack of all trades springs to mind. Your argument doesn't stand up. E.g. If you want to build the best HiFi system or the best TV or even the best car, you search out and source the best components. The best design in the world means nothing if you put it together with components that are better made by others. Are you saying Tesla designed and built the processors inside the "powerful central computer" or the Digital electronics, or the multi layer circuit boards and auto insert machines to poulate them with the nano components that go into these complex electronics, do they build the tyres or make the glass do they make the steel and aluminium. Think about what you are saying its nonsense and huge folly or huge hubris for Tesla if they tried. Also Audi built level 5 autonomy into the A8, A7 etc.a couple of years ago, its not fully switched on because the law doesnt currently allow it. Looking at a Tesla wreck today where its "driver" was killed by a head on whilst he played on his phone, so the belief is that there should be no headlong rush to normalize this technology.

    Love the way Vicky is riding But full of FUD. A base etron is 71000 ponds ( 83000€) but the digital mirror is optional = 2000€ after the a pack that cost 6000€ and then the color red is optimal to 1200€.. So a total of 79000 pounds !! But which trim was the model X. I was confused saying 440 hp as performance version has 440 kW = over 600 hp !!!. Torque same as etron?? P version allmost a 1000 nm, yes yes. So drag race would have torn the Audi apart. And how in heaven's name did Johny forget about the Frunk. In this configuration its bigger than the trunk ( sort off). In Fully charged Johnny knows every little detail. Price Belgium 103000€ MX LR with 6 seat conf and no FSD vs 93000€ ( S line with digital mirrors and metalic - no other options ) but so so so many more options that price will be skyhigh and near price MX P. At Bruxelles carshow etron a wopping 120000€ car with every possible option.

The 200kwh version is only for the Roadster which is a completely different segment. According to Audi the main purpose of the new drivetrain is to improve traction and range but as a side effect it also improves the acceleration.
