Tesla Model 3 SR+ Road Trip! Lake Tahoe Part 2

Ойын-сауық

This is part 2 of our Tesla Road Trip! It was an adventure to remember and a lesson learned. Though it was fun being in the snow and shooting there, I think I would definitely avoid it with the Tesla Model 3 SR+ RWD. AWD maybe, specially if its the long range. Thanks for watching guys!
I cannot believe I now have a Tesla Referral Code. If you guys are interested in a Tesla and want 1,000 free supercharging miles, lets help each other out! I need more supercharging miles, I cant stop driving it lol. Thank you!: ts.la/sergio66132

Im sure u figured out that the chains were supposed to be on the the rear tires given that its a rear wheel drive car, dont have to elaborate more, i would reccomend however getting snow tires if you plan on doing more winter driving, definately worth it for traction and stability on a rwd car... if you get a set of blizzacs for example, u wont even need chains...

As an individual who has an SR + who lives in Denver and have been to the mountains a decent amount of times, one advice i could give to you is TRUST YOUR CAR...I have never had any range anxiety because the car has darn near been spot on. It calculates the elevation. The only thing it doesnt calculate is the weather but just extend your buffer when you are at the supercharger. IMO, it didnt seem like you didnt have to drive snow (unless the chains forced you to. Yes, you will lose energy going up a mountain, but you will gain alot back going back down it.

I guess I do need to trust it cause I kid you not, It was not looking good and it was only getting darker. I really felt like I had to slow down by 20MPH.

@@SergioHernandezProduction I went on a trip to the mtns one time (at night and in the teens) and it stated i would have 10% left when i got there. I had to go over a pass and i swear i had 2 percent left. I got to our destination with literally 9% left. I was shocked how good it was. I only take into consideration the cold.

James Scott Jr Yeah. At some point we were getting range back going downhill but then we started climbing again and it got us worried for sure. We're learning. Rookie Tesla owners just having fun.

I did a similar trip with my model 3 Long range rear wheel drive on mid December from Santa Clarita to South Lake Tahoe and I didn't have any issue with the range anxiety during the trip. I only charged twice on route to Lake Tahoe with plenty of range after. I'm curious to ask why the chains are installed at the front wheel where you have a rear wheel drive car where the traction put down 😕.

You my friend are absolutely right. I kid you not, I had a "Professional" install it cause it was 10pm and I did not want to put them on. They had a guy there to install and now that you mention it, You are right. Why the heck did he put them there and why didnt I say anything lol. Brain was off apparently. For both of us lol. Thanks for watching!

LOL! Thanks for commenting Candice! It was fun but yeah. Range anxiety is real when going to the mountains in the snow because everything shortens the battery with the cold and up hills and such. Maybe theyve added more chargers by now but i would definitely check before hand.

Hi Sergio, did I see that right you have the snow chains on the front wheels? Didn't they tell you you always put them on the drive wheels? With the Model 3 SR+ you would definitely put the chains on the rear wheels. Also, it is common knowledge that electric cars need some consideration of temperature and terrain. So, I'm sorry to say, that your problems were not the car's fault.

do47m Yeah. The chain part was partly my fault for not catching it. We had a "professional" installer do it for us. It was 10pm and freezing when I bought them and didn't want to do it.myself so we hired the guy they had for installing and I didn't catch it 🤦‍♂️. And I'm not blaming the car. All I'm saying is, when calculating a route, Tesla should take the terrain and temp into consideration like I did. Therefore I stopped at closer superchargers than suggested by Tesla because it wouldn't make it if I had listened. That's all. Not blaming the car. Thanks for watching!
