Tesla Model 3 Performance | A Race Track MONSTER With $5k In Mods!?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I set out with a budget of $5,000 to turn my '20 Tesla Model 3 Performance into in absolute track weapon!
We put it up against some seriously fast cars and drivers @ Summit Point Motorsports Park in Mach V Motorsport's Winter Track Cross Series to see just how competitive a less experienced driver in an modded M3P can be!
What are your thoughts on how EV's stack up against the traditionally fast gas powered vehicles in motorsports?
If you dig it, be sure to describe as we continue to push our M3P!

Appreciate it! It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I’d be willing to bet that’s because most of them haven’t driven one 😬

Really like the Tesla content and appreciate the weighing of parts stock to aftermarket especially wheel/tire package and rotors since they are rotational and unsprung weight which makes the difference so much more than fixed sprung weight. Autocrossing since 95 and trackdays since 97 and the driving looked nice good job. Only one minor complaint. The camera work while walking and passing the pillars had a lot of sway and was disorienting to watch. Great stuff and nice to see the Tesla on track and improving.

@@scraplifegarage Not sure if it was said already, but with the rear brake caliper you can use a 9v battery to move the parking brake motor. just reverse polarity to change direction.

@@stevencase243 I was aware of that, unfortunately being in such a time crunch I tried to use what I had handy (jumper wires and a milwaukee 12v battery) and when that was fighting me I just yanked the actuators and spun them with an allen key. I have that nice little jumper harness that uses the 9v on the way for next time!

@@scraplifegarage The issues you were having with the Brake fluid is probably due to the fluid itself. Those of us tracking are using RBF660 or Endless RF650 for the higher boiling points. I personally use the Endless fluid and have no issues with boiling or it getting soft.

This was very insightful, thank you for making this video! I was looking into getting the nt033rr in 18x9.5, did you use hub centric rings? I’ve been looking all over for ones that will fit the m3p rotors. I believe those einkei are 75mm center bore from what I’ve gathered.

Honestly it just comes down to personal preference, as long as the barrel clears the brakes, it’s your choice as far as design and weight. I do like the enkei nt03rr for my daily wheels. Barrel clearance is the most important aspect, I tried 18x9.5 rpf1 and they didn’t clear. Thanks for watching!

9.5” wheel is better with 265 width tires. A052 is already wider than tires in the same size, 275 is too much will result in more side wall flex
