@Alex I'd put it on the outside face of the teeth, facing that mounting screw. Or you can just sort of cover the entire area, it won't harm anything.

Thank you for this! My 7 day old Tesla Y 2024 makes the same annoying sound on the passenger seat! Hopefully using the White Lithium Grease like one of the comments said will help with this.

I’m having this issue with my taycan 2022 I used wd40 before it lasted around 2 months but noise came back again yesterday so now I used ton of grease noise went away and I hope it will last now

Yeah they fixed it under warranty, replaced the rail assembly. That being said, grease would work fine, at least for months, maybe years. Worst that happens is it needs a bit more grease later.

Has it been fixed by Tesla? I seem to have exactly the same noise but on model S.

Yes they replaced the seat rail assembly. I was luckily able to duplicate the sound for a tech and show them what was wrong. Before getting it fixed, I put some oil on the rail and that shut it up for a few months, but I wanted it fixed properly. Heavy grease likely would've fixed it for a long time, but still not a proper solution.

Will wd40 also work or only grease?

Wd40 lubricates temporarily then evaporates and the squeak will come back. For metal-metal contacts a good lithium grease will last you a while

What did Tesla end up doing to fix this problem I’m having the exact same issue in my 2022MYP

Nothing yet, I have yet to take it in for service. But they should readjust the rails to make sure there's not contact. If that doesn't work, they should replace the seat. If you don't trust them to fix it properly or if you're impatient, you could add a bit of grease yourself. You should put the grease on the spots where the paint is worn through, and then move the seat all the way front and back once or twice. That quiet it at least for a while, and maybe permanently.

@@evgo1234 i actually moved the seat forward and backward about a quarter of a inch just with the automatic slider on the side of the seat and the noise went away, not sure for how long, ill still have service check it out but knowing my luck it wont reproduce the sound now!

@@tommybahamax I tried this too and heard some faint gooey sounds from the rails when I moved them back/forth - but the creak came back after a day. Whatever lube they use from factory doesn't work well.

It’s not real.

I’ve worked for many dealerships you need to get a life and live with poor build quality they don’t make them like they used to technicians hate winey customers because the replacement seat will be exactly the same all made in poor regions of poor undeveloped countries so costs are low

Why is this posted? What’s the benefit? It seems like an attack towards Tesla, my Model 3 doesn’t do any of this, but even if it did, warranty my man. Should probably take down the video, but I doubt you will because it seems like an attack towards Tesla. Especially with a fresh account with 1 sub, doesn’t seem to add up to me.

I don't think it's an attack. It's a legit issue many drivers are having, including me. He is at least helping to narrow it down where the squeak is coming from. What have you done to contribute to fixing this issue?

@@evgo1234 I had a seat replaced under warranty and squeaking started in the general area after the seat replacement. This video helped me identify the exact area causing the issue, so thanks for posting and keeping it up.
