If you decide that you want FSD, I would highly suggest to get the subscription. With it costing $100 per month on newer cars it would take 10 years for it to equal the $12,000 that it costs and 5 years if you have a older car, and if you get in a crash with serious damage your insurance might say it's totaled and give you money for a new car, but usually not with FSD. So you could get your car with FSD then get in a crash one month later and there goes $12k

If you pay $6000 for Enhanced Autopilot, FSD is only $99/mo. But FSD is now $15K, so if you have EA, it takes 7.5 years to pay the $9K difference at $99/mo. If you don't get EA, it will take 6.3 years to pay $15K at $199/mo.

I'd buy FSD if it stayed with the driver. $10,000 attached to a vehicle that depreciates in value along with it is just... not an attractive option. Seems like sticking with the driver would have a significant impact on repeat customers and cementing loyalty.

@@KGBos Eh. We subscribed to it for the $200/month and canceled a couple months later. It's, imho, not worth it. The FSD couldn't even take a freeway offramp without freaking out and jerking all over. The whole thing seems incredibly overhyped and has been an unfortunate disappointment.

@@jonathanjrod You can also just subscribe/unsubscribe from is as-needed... unless you're using it daily/weekly; just picking it up and dropping it off would take you 60 (last I checked, permanent FSD is now $12,000) subscribe/unsubscribe events to even equal the cost. We've had our Tesla Model Y Performance since September and used the FSD service for a road trip... and even that was frustrating with phantom braking and such. Haven't used FSD since and also haven't missed it.

@@TehTsudy it sounds great on paper but we still years if not decades behind true self driving. However I do find the user interface and sensors detecting nearby vehicles extremely helpful. Not worth the upgrade, the auto steer is good enough for me

Hi Chris, I notice that that you have FSD package. The auto pilot with FSD without Navigation will act different then standard Autopilot. The difference without stop sign control, it does not read yellow signs which is fantom braking. Does not slow down on sharper turns mainly old Highways on there on ramps. Coming off subscription , you need to pay attention on stop signs if the a car in front you and in you on a signal light it works great . If not a car at a signal light you must manually stop. I quit FSD subscription, due too not getting the Beta testing for city . Since live in Nevada in rule area there just old Highways not recognized for FSD, it was not worth it. Let us know on version 11.0 or the new update coming soon any improvements on auto pilot. I did notice my AP did better around median curbs (those are small half roundabouts) Good job Chris, looking forward on your next video. Also CF Tesla on Facebook.

I have a 2019 Ford f-250 6.7 powerstroke diesel and a model 3. I'm selling my model 3 as my trucks autopilot is basically the same thing just with a 800 mile + range :) compared to the 3. And honestly is more usable in snow, road trips, off road, and if I need to tow. Unless they actually come out with their "full self driving" option.. then modern autopilots with adaptive cruise, are basically the same dam thing.

I was thinking about the 3lr with autopilot or 3p without it, but now, I’m going to choose the 3p without it

I'm looking at getting a Y right now, and I drive HWY 17 (That you were on) every single day. good to know it'll steer for that. was a major question of mine lol

I rented a model 3 off Turo this weekend. Just spent 4 hours driving using Autpilot with FSD. I was extremely underwhelmed. Highway driving was OK as long as there were lane lines. No evasive capabilities what so ever. It immediately bails out if anything goes south…….missing lane lines, construction zone. Onramps/merges/off ramps were consistently handled poorly. How about it auto hit the breaks for literally no reason a few times (I was in the slow lane and another car is coming on to the freeway near me, not in front of me). City driving was impossible. I tried city a couple times in pretty good/simple environments, it couldn’t handle it at all. I loved the car for its other characteristics, but it’s self driving capabilities were disappointing. Suggest getting long range with no FSD. Also suggest renting via Turo find one that has FSD.

I only have enhanced auto steering here in Israel. It's full of issues - from phantom breaking, forced speed limit(I think the system thinks it's in a dangerous road when it's not), the car bases a lot on it's ability to read speed limit signs and it makes a lot of mistakes, even though some of the signs ae quite ok. The system uses to much force to interact with the drivers asking for no assistance basically. It's as if someone assumed the car knows best. This whole premise falls apart when the road map is not updated(for roads upgraded two or more years) and when road signs or road marking are wrongly interpreted. The real issue the Telsa Y has a price point very similar to the bigger Volvo and small Mercedes, people like myself expect high premium level car when a lot of premium features are missing. The seats are sweaty, no CarPlay(yes Waze does work much better), no HUD, too much heat coming from the large side window and front window(why no shade on the upper part of the windscreen?) and list goes on.

I have EAP and FSD in my Tesla, but a year ago I was loaned a "standard" Model 3 with only the free AP and TACC. I quickly concluded that this was all I needed: I'd wasted my money buying EAP and FSD.

Doesnt seem like it isn't ready for mainstream.

If I buy a 2021 model 3 without full self driving is it a hassle to add it on later? Is it a simple software add on or do I need to go to a Tesla dealership for hardware add on?

They need to fix that steering wheel problem pops up constantly has to get annoying, should not get penalized paying for all this....

FSD might work in California, but in places with rough winters and salty roads, forget it. We have EPA on our MS, but total waste. Summon is a gimmick, auto park rarely works/identifies a spot, auto lane change performs jerky and uncomfortable lane changes. For my M3 I went with basic AP as the lane assist is actually pretty superior compared to other manufacturers.

I just bought my 2019 M3LR and it only has basic autopilot and acceleration boost. Was saddened by no Enhanced AP or FSD, but after watching a few videos it seems I’m not missing out on much.

It was a bummer that subscription is not available in Canada, we either all or nothing 😔

No matter what I try, I cannot get my 2022 Model S to do FSD. Can you show me how to set FSD feature. There is a blue icon on my navigator. Does this have anything to do with FSD?

I’ve seen the FSD auto steering. It works pretty damn well. Seems like, it’s not worth it. Until FSD is 100% capable to be full autonomous, I’m gonna save the $10K

@@EverydayChris I think you’re screwed either way because the value will go up because it already has the FSD. if you would sell your car off with the FSD at a higher cost at that time, then you just have to buy a new car with whatever that FSD is for the new higher amount. You end up losing either way. Also I think that most people, including myself, will finance the car. meaning you end up paying way more than what now is $12K

Since this is software based the FSD package should be connected to your tesla account. When you buy a new tesla FSD comes with your existing account and gets deactivated on previous car.

The FSD tells you to change lane to an HOV lane though. Does it know you have multiple people in the car or you have to decide if you can switch even if it tells you to?

Not sure about your area, but many states say EV can drive in the HOV regardless of how many passengers you have

Well in my country FSD Is not worthy, because navigation does not work. So the only thing that works is lane change, but you have to use turn signals.

@@EverydayChris because don’t know why tesla hasn’t allow navigate on autopilot available yet outside the US, but you can change lane with turn signal, summon to your location, but 3rd world country driver sometimes get too much close to the vehicle that it stop from moving to your location.

From the enhanced features I only like navigate on autopilot an maybe the standart summon feature, but those 2 are not worth 3800€ for me 🤔 FSD may be great some day, but now it is an overpriced beta test. Maybe using it some time with subscription

There was a point in time when Tesla offered the Enhanced Autopilot option which gave it smart summon and a few other things. That is the point where the $100 price would come into play. I think that option lasted for less than 6 months. Most people will have to pay the $200 p/m

Still works but you have to still keep hand on wheel because it now detects it. But good to use on road trips

Tesla had a promo for free full self driving and I tried it but I felt unsafe with it on so I didn’t keep paying the subscription, The normal autopilot works on normal streets too so I don’t see a huge difference

I didn’t realize autopilot worked on streets too. It’s all software really I feel like they could have packaged this a bit better for the customer I am getting the model s in April hopefully without fsd I will test out autopilot and see if I Need it.

I'd still get anxiety lol Don't see the point. I still have to watch and be extra careful. I rather just drive myself.

Quick question: can you use the FSD beta if you buy the subscription? If so, what happens if you stop the subscription? Does the safety score reset every time?

It used to but now since it’s vision only it’s limited to 80.

Have a new model Y. After a month just disabled the auto steering feature. I find it to be unreliable and badly implement. 😢. Bugs and really uncomfortable to use. I’m comparing it to my wife’s s90 Volvo 2019. The Volvo’s implementation is much easier to use and much more smooth.

Hey Chris, you didn’t pay attention to the fact that when you were trying to show how to use the parallel parking example, you had that hand tension thing still on the steering wheel. (The thing you had clamped around the steering wheel). When you were talking about auto pilot. I’m pretty sure that’s why the car had such a hard time parallel parking. The car thought that you had your hand still on the steering wheel, when you really didn’t. I think this time it wasn’t the car, I think it was the operator!
