I seem to remember that during the 80's, the Honda Prelude had a hydraulic four wheel steering that for low angles of steering, the rear wheels would turn slightly in the same direction as the front wheels but in greater degrees of turns, the rear wheels would swing back in the opposite direction. It does seem that a lot of what we're trying now is just to use computers and servos instead of the analog systems of the past. Mind you, though the Honda four wheel system did give more stability with high speed lane changes and more ability to turn at low speeds, people just didn't want to pay the extra price.

I have one. The four wheel steering is wonderful. It maneuvers like a model Y. I would like crab walk though even if it is clunky because for the rare situations it is useful it would make a big difference. I have to park mine in a small garage and if i could crab it over closer to one wall that would be awesome.

Who needs it anyway?

anyone who needs to shift the car sideways. like almost every time you park in a public parking lot? tesla is like apple on steroids minimalism almost to a fault. I'd ALWAYS want more options over less. and the hardware is all there. its only a software swap from having the feature.

Elon is the greatest liability Tesla Auto has.
