I’m Michele, also. But I was BORN in May of 1974, while this song was still in the charts. My name was supposed to be Sharon Anne, but my aunt and uncle had a baby girl three weeks before I was born and they called her Sharon. Another uncle suggested the name Michele. I’ve always wondered if it was because he liked this song.

YES, and, it's NOT that I was a young man in the 70s either!!!, because, all music from the 70s, take a lot of beating in my humble opinion😊 AND, I think it WAS written in the 60s🤔, but, it was recorded in the 70s by Terry Jacks!!, and it's still a brilliant, even though a very sad song!!🙂

Man this song still makes me cry. Life is so short, dont waste time fighting and arguing. We get one crack in life to be happy and loving to others.

@@johnboy32064 Yeah if he actually sang here his voice sounds pretty close to when he was young but live performances never sound like the original recordings. I always want the performances to sound like the original recordings.

It's incredible that he still sounds the same as he did back in the 70's. This was a one hit wonder but it is timeless!

Indeed my friend it was at one point my favorite song back then, now i heard that originally it was going to be called something like "a dying man" but the producers thought it to depressing. But don't know for sure, never looked it up

God bless you all for your losses. I too, have loss. This song is beautiful in its poinancy, but still delivers the darts to the heart. After loss the memories, whether happy or sad, always leave a bit of pain. Still, the love we feel never dies.

I did the same at my dads funeral in January 2011, he passed away at 80 years old and every time I hear this song. I get tears in my eyes.

Wow he he hasn’t changed at all !! This was 2 of my favorite songs as teen in 1974 - I lost a friend to cancer today at just 52 and this ring made me think of him - he was an entertainer as well 😢

Happy 50th anniversary to this song, it was released this time in 1974! It’s early January 2024 as I post my comment. Although this song did not make the top ten songs of 1974, in my opinion it should have; it was that big a hit. May it live on for another 50 years!!

My little sister was hit by a car and died in 1978 when I was 8 yrs old.. I remember playing at a friends house and they had the 45 of this song and played it.. This was the first song that ever made me cry.. Love everyone you can, while you still can guys

He still has an awesome voice. For many years was my favorite song.

I buried my best friend of 50 years. In 2011. This song reminds me of him everytime i hear it . RIP tom rigney

I did not expect his current singing to sound anything like the original. I was VERY wrong! He captured every feeling from the original and didn't miss a beat. Bravo Terry

The last farewell to say ! The memories still remain . I love this song way back then . Now I'm 66 years old .

My sister passed 2 yrs ago, She wanted this song played at her funeral. So we had it played and we was so heart broken. It brought so many years of our childhood growing up. The song just fit all of us. Thank you Terry!

Armpit Studios Sorry but I have to agree with Tiger Trap . He sounds just like he did back in '74. And if I may say so, I can feel the pain in his voice even more now than back in '74. P.S. And yes the French are clueless- singing and dancing to a song about a dying man.

My parents loved this song,and I can't hear it without crying. ❤

He looks and sounds great for someone lamenting for 50 years about how hard it is to die. Glad he's still with us!

Classic, I remember waking up every morning in 1974 to this song on the radio. Terry Jacks has the same effect as he did then, nothing was ever lost. Truly hauntingly beautiful.

My brother died when he was 40. I will always remember this song because he sang it when he was 17 and me 14. He was my hero. I am an academic and he a plumber. I often said to him that I would changed with him if I could. He was such a lovely person but the wine and the song took him to early. I miss him so much.

I used to hear this on the school bus every day in 3rd grade, just as we were leaving the school grounds.

Jeez, I can remember this when it was riding high in the UK charts in early '74. That's 47 years ago... scary! Great voice then, get voice now. Lovely song.

I lost my father in Dec '73, this song is embedded in me and has been since I first heard it, both are intrinsically linked.

This song was a favorite of my brother's back when we were little. When I hear it now I think of him. He passed away in 2018 at the still young age of 56.

One of my all time favourite songs and singers. What a great performance this is. Damn but this takes me back to being 16 going on 17 again.

Since I was about 13 years (I am now 61) this has followed me. Heard it originally in the radio on our boat deck, no streaming then. Extremely emotional

I love this song but makes me cry😢 because bring me memories of a dear friend that died at a very young age... 🎵we have fun, we have joy, we have seasons in the sun🎵...and yes we had so much fun!. And our generation still enjoying this wonderful song..thanks Mr. Jacks!🤗

I think i was about 10 years old when this song came out. enjoyed it then and i still enjoy it now. for some reason it resonated with me. it seemed like the audience had blank stares, while listening to the song. i don't know if it was something that they couldn't relate to or if it was a language barrier and just couldn't understand the words.

I didn't truly understand the depth of the lyrics when I was 11 yrs old, but this and Paul McCartney's "My Love" played every day and though I was only a child I fondly remember humming or singing these songs when I was feeling good on my way to play with my friends.
