I took a lot of convincing for me to except this, but Ted, would've made a great NWA World's Champion.

Hard not to see him as anything more than his million dollar man character, it's that iconic. However his work prior to that was exemplary as well, him against Rick Flair would have been pretty damn cool.

I feel bad for fans who only know Ted for his work in the WWF. He was FAR better in Mid South and Georgia as either face or heel then he ever was in New York. During the early 80's you honestly could flip a coin between him and Flair as to who was the best wrestler in the world. It's still hard for me to understand why the NWA never gave him a run with the belt but it just wasn't to be. Off topic but another wrestler I really think should have had a 3 or 4 month run as champ was The Masked Superstar. He was my favorite heel and was great both in ring and on the mike. I think matches between him and Flair would have been great.

This! People always kinda knew it wasn't a competitive sport, but the wrestlers treated it as if it was, they lived it 24/7 and that's why people where able to suspend their beliefs. Now you see wrestlers who don't take it as seriously, and they wonder why it's drawing a fraction of what it used to.

Writers? It's convincing because they didn't use writers..They came up with their promos by themselves..

They lived these "characters" basically it's themselves dialed up to 11.. That's why it's so believable..
