@ThetrueDevourerofgods Nah. It isn't bad on its own, it's just outclassed by the dragon staff and the terraprisma(which in calamity you can get from night time eol). There isn't really a reason to use it

Stardust cells work identically to xenos , you just never use them and don't know how good they are (tho dragon is available at the same stage)

As someone who never plays summoner I have to go with your ranking with this one

One dragon and cells is best combo pre eol

i throw progression out the window and rush sanguine staff as soon as i get into hard mode and use it until right after plantera because daytime empress is next on my hit list

Finally i can agree with someone on blade staff being better than sanguine staff (W tier list)

optic staff was the 1.3 equivalent of the blade staff. I always thought it was very sad to see no-one use it

Summoner player here: id say this is very accurate. With two exceptions: im the only person who plays summoner who doesnt view stardust cells as bad. I, personally, believe that the SD Cell staff belongs in B tier. Its actually not bad but os just over shadowed by the other end fame summons. If you dont just use one type of summon, you can use SD cell minions to their maximum. Alone they dont do nearly as much damage as the dragon, but the dragon doesnt get the little guys on screen very well. If uou do an 80/20 split of the Dragon/Cell combo you got a good heavy hitter, and a good cleanup crew... Thisn... Is moot if youre whipstacking a boss, so... Not useful for bosses. And my second excaption is that I would personally move the Deadly Sphere Staff into the D tier. I never found a good use for it, golem sure, but golem can be beat with a thumb up your own ass. It is a step up from the pirate staff, it can at least hit somethinff, but it seems just too crappy to actually hit regularly.

I agree a lot since summoner is my 2nd most used class, I also remember I used the stardust cell staff instead of the stardust dragon in my first summoner playthrough and it's not that bad if paired with the terraprisma or stardust dragon (like you said) and I also like the deadly sphere staff only bc of the cool animations not the damage and I only use the sphere staff as a novelty weapon

The Tempest Staff has a secret use: it can wet the cute fishron mount as if it were raining. Only if you run into the projectiles though.

Optic staff is great agaist plantera & golem, the exact bosses you need to exterminate before moving onto the next summon, plus they can handle enemies fairly well on their own which helps with plantera arena. The sharknado staff is optainable pre mech and is a very good summon against invasions.

You can easily tell who places cheap dirt and hay walls and who doesn’t by their appraisal of the spider staff.

I'd put Sharknado staff on C atleast due to it being able to be obtainable pre-boss in hardmode.

I refuse to accept the Terraprisma as a staff. It deserves to be the one and only summoner sword.

As a Sanguine Staff user, I agree with this, i even use it against EOL or at sometime even the Daytime Empress for the Terraprisma, and yes its on legendary mode For The Worthy

Its viable, i did a challenge to myself since im abit of a nerd and wanted to see if i can beat daytime eol with pre-mech items and so i whip stacked the snapthorn w the coolwhip for atk spd and coolwhip is best pre mech whip, then used sanguine because i decided somehow that queen slime is post mech 😭😭😭 but i did it in about 5 mins, eol down, this was thanks to the shrimoy truffle as they spawn as soon as hm starts

Why bladestaff viable against everything literally if you use all whips at once it will multiply summon tag dmg and deal thousands of dps use mod eich lets you use all whips at once the method is called whipstacking

bruh Stardust Cell Staff is overhated

As a person who always does summoned playthroughs, Sanguine is horrible, its rare and if you have trash luck and wont get a blood moon, just use blade staff until you get deadly sphere to get xeno

Keep a spare bloody tear? They are pretty common and the Nautilus could be cheesed very easily AND the cheese-less fight is fun af. I completely disagree with your opinion

As someone who primarily plays summoner, I think otherwise. A basic mob farm can net you at least a couple bloody tears per blood moon. Aside from that, Dreadnautilus isn't a tough fight despite how tanky he is. Sanguine Staff can carry through a majority of Hardmode. On the flip side, I have skipped Sanguine on a couple of my playthroughs. The Blade Staff is easier to get and is imo only slightly worse than the Sanguine. I usually get either one and use it up to Golem and get Xeno.

The pirate staff is my go to golem weapon if i get it

As a summoner main i can say that sanguine staff better than blade staff but harder to get but its so fun to play with And the optic staff is good its good and sooo fun to play And deadly sphere is so good i used it to kill the empress of light to get the tera prisma the deadly sphere staff is really underrated its the secend best choice to kill empress of light day time i tested almost all the staffs and the xeno and the deadly sphere was the best and the stardust weapons for sure but fr who kill the pillars after that kill the empress?

My favorite is the desert tiger staff. Most the staffs are just numbers of minions but the star dust dragon and the tiger are 1 minion that gets stronger. I personally would like to see more 1 minion staffs

I kind of like the alternative attack style. The solo/buff summons are cool and many say they're the best, but I feel they fall short when it comes to handling crowds. So, really only use the Solo minions against bosses. And considering the tiger seems to be a ground based summon, it's not very good for the majority of bosses, due to their flying abilities.

i feel like pygmy staff wouldve been a-tier if they didn’t remove needing it in your inventory for the tiki set. pretty sad that they removed that tbh. i feel like summoners already have very little progression steps to make so that just made summoner even easier than it already is 😭😭😭

The pygmy staff isn't bad because of the Tiki set... It's bad because it's basically the private staff with a better attack range. They require a surface to stand on. This is one of the things that can consistently ruin a summon. Being on the ground and having a melee attack is basically what makes a summon useless. Pygmy staff has a ranged attack, at least, but due to it's heavy reliance on standing on the ground the Pygmy's staff is almost worthless. If you are doing ANY level of movement, they struggle to keep up. It's not as bad as the Pirates but still pretty bad. It's been a while since I played... Aren't the spears the throw able to miss? For some reason I recall they can miss. Blade staff is probably the best.staff

I disagree. I think they’re close contenders but when you include tag damage and all that good stuff? Terra prisma is definitely better. I think the stardust dragon is better if you’re not using summoner gear/weapons and just want the extra summon(s)

@@carneneshow Dragon is way better against slower moving bosses, and terraprisma the other way. Considering the only boss left in progression when you get it is moonlord, the stardust dragon wins. Nothing post game matters anyway. Dragon easily has more dps, especially when paired with firecracker. But due to how dragon already spawns with 4 'segments', it is always better to only summon it 3 times (as its dps doesnt increase as much as other minions per summon) and use the rest on other powerful minions. They're both amazing, as a summoner main.

I kinda agree considering you can get the dragon by doing the most easy pillar event but you get the terraprisma by beating a goddess of light also they are pretty similar in dps

​@@sock1This! Many seem to forget the solo summons have a sort of dimensioning returns. Using the Stardust + More Rapid attack amounts to a greater 'effective' dps. Meaning, you're getting more value from using a combo of minions than just going all in with one type. For the majority of the game, focusing on one type is prudent, it's only once you get to hard mode and you get a real variety in staffs that are.roughly close to each other in power where mixing and matching works. I really, really, hope their new updates for summoners include a wider variety of attack style for minions. I would like an AOE style summon... Which seems to kinda be the Sd Dragon. I just want a more focused role, like an explorable Voltorb or something.
