The crazy thing is why didn't they write Furlong into the story as he turned out? I mean, I'm not saying it to dump on the actor, but he's had legal issues and addiction issues that are public knowledge. In a meta sense it's perfect: the John Connor of T2 grew up in a world where he was trained to be some sort of messiah and that didn't happen because the changes to the timeline, so it wouldn't be a surprise he turned out a mess. Likewise, the young talented actor Furlong was expected to have had a bright future but his life went seriously sideways. He didn't have to be the hero of the new movie, but there's very obvious ways he could have been woven into it. She-booting the movie wasn't what sank it, but killing him off in a callous way in the first five minutes instantly cut the audience in half. (And my personal unprovable suspicion is the reason James Cameron suggested offing John in the first five minutes is that Cameron himself was sick and tired of being endlessly pitched Terminator sequels/reboots and wanted to bury it. There's... another franchise he was involved in where key survivors in one film were casually killed in the opening of the sequel and he knows perfectly well how off putting that is to fans.)

Edward furlong is 46 , I'm nearly 42 how did that happen !!! time flies , T2 had a huge impact on me, a few people have laughed when I say its prob my favourite film of all time but its the epitome of early 90s America film at its best, so much better than the original for me which I saw a, few years later, how lucky were we to live through the golden era of action and sci-fi and kids films? Kids 40 years from now won't be still obsessed with any film released today cause they simply can't come close to films from the 80s/90s ... Predator, aliens. Commando goodfellas, Goonies, back to the future, home alone, list is endless... Incredible

In fairness hamilton made a million from t2, that was a very high sum in 1990 era when she would have got paid. If she'd invested that alone wisely she'd have been doing OK. I get the feeling if she hadn't been with Cameron she would have acted in more big films after t2. She took a three year hiatus after it, and they had a baby.

There are only two terminator movies. Just two. Rest is abomination. Some of them would be not bad sci-fi movies, but as a terminator movies they are horrible. And for a good reason - you cant catch the same thunder twice. T2 was perfect casting, perfect actors age for everyone, best people from FX, best sci-fi director maybe ever, timeless soundtrack. After you hit jackpot on so many categories at the same time, what else there is? Only going down and so they did with next movies.

All that re-boot and remake business they are trying to do right now, other than milking nostalgic people wallets, is like meeting your first girl 30 years later. Sure you can go to bed like you did back then. But its not gonna be the same as it used to be.

I mean, The casting in T1 & T2 were PERFECT. But Robert didn't replace arnold's position, The T-2000 added to the previous threat, that was more about great writing, to be able to upstage something like the T-800 Having Robert playing the part was genious, seeing he looked like the total oposite to Arnold, but he was even more dangerous that him in the movie. it's not that easy to just say that he filled the shoes of arnold, when it was also great writing, because otherwise it wouldn't have worked.. T2 was the perfect sequel.. and eventhough i love the terminator lore and that world, and can appreciate the other installments, it should have ended with T2.. because that was it, the first two are a perfect set, the rest is just... that.

The first one took all the cast to make it exceptional, the second one actually surpassed the first one,but again great story, cast, special and visual effects all of this things combined made this franchise stand out as one of the best period.
