    You guys have the extended cut. That used to be on 3 VHS tapes when I was a kid, and only one random video store had it. It is reversed now, as people choose the extended version. It really is better.

    This scene alone is why I think the extended cut of the film is better than theatrical cut. I have two copies of the film on DVD and BOTH are the extended cut, where the chip scene is in the final cut of the film.

    the shop mechanic shop owner would eventually return and find the defunct terminator sitting in the shop, they'd freak out and call the cops.. the cops would investigate and call the military then military would take the T-800 away for examination...then you know where that's going.. they'd connect it with cyberdyne.. T-1000 would have eventually caught up with sarah and john connor and killed them..

    The Terminator has already been reprogrammed in the future, so why reset anything again? This could even reset the reprogramming and turn it back into a Killing Machine. So everything could be explained with the reprogramming in the future, no need for an extra scene that could even create confusion about if the Terminator wants to reset himself for killing John Conor. I prefer the theatrical cut. ✌️

    in my opinion i am glad that they did not include this scene in the movie good Terminator or not it just seems really silly that a highly advanced killing machine would let his guard down and let someone tinker with the one thing keeping him from failing the mission his CPU...now if they had imagined the scene differently were he was unable to somehow give consent before they stared taking him apart than yeah this would've been a nice edition to the theatrical cut.

    I think James wanted to show the inside of the terminators robot skull in the same shot as Arnold telling them to open his skull. It could have only been done with a dummy and the real Arnold acting as the reflection in the fake mirror. the real Arnold talks as the mirror reflection and then the camera moves to show the dummy Arnold with its robot skull exposed.

    @jeffk1722

    It's an interesting, well-shot scene, but the dialogue was a bit spoon-fed. The pacing and audience discovery was better without it. Sarah also has another "I'm gonna kill him!" moment that John has to stop later in the film (Miles Dyson), so they probably didn't want it too saturated with Sarah's paranoia and anger.

  • @jeffk1722

    @jeffk1722

    7 жыл бұрын

    Ran Dom, I mean that the dialogue is used to explain their thoughts and feelings to us the audience. It works well sometimes, but in this extended scene it seems kind of unnatural - and maybe not the way they would actually talk to each other. It's sometimes more fun to infer thoughts and feelings from subtle dialogue, like what Sarah says in the theatrical film: T-800 "I have detailed files on the human anatomy." Sarah (cynically) "I'll bet. Makes you more efficient killer right?" so we can guess that maybe she has trust issues, rather than her just saying "I don't trust it! We need to kill it!"

  • @dbstewart86

    @dbstewart86

    6 жыл бұрын

    Jeff K Agreed, the dialogue is a little too stilted. Beyond that, if you consider the scene it falls apart and gets predictable pretty fast. We know Sarah doesn't trust it for obvious reasons, who would trust it given her situation? Past that though, if it is destroyed in such an easy way, who's going to stand against the 1000? Neither Sarah nor John has threw ability to contend with it for any length of time. Also, in terms of character dynamics there needs to be a grounding force. Sarah is manic, hysterical, and shows sociopathic, psychotic, and schizophrenic tendencies that largely are only held in check by John, the attack on and rant against Dyson being a great example. John is the slightly naive fresh face of hope. Someone has to be in the middle or else it would seem that the only reason they don't kill each other is because they're related. If you go back through the movie you notice a lot of scenes with the 3 of them has either John or Sarah talking more with the 800 than their family member.
