    I used to literally hate MacEnroe all the way back in college. But now he's one of my favorite commentators. He has the courage of conviction and says it like he sees it. In this corporate-dominated world of ours, that's a rare thing to see.

    Would of loved to hear Johnny Mac's thoughts on the Vitas Gerulaitis scene in Borg vs McEnroe. Out of the entire movie, that scene was spot on. Looked and felt just like Vitas.

    What about "The Break" 1995 movie? Although it's old, I was expecting his professional expertise on that one. This movie illustrates the important process of tennis tour in America, which young talents go through before reaching the bigger stages of competition.

    No 3-set match should have a bathroom break. It's turned into a scourge for the game and for fans. Maybe a 5-setter you can be allowed 3 minutes IF you're willing to give up a trainer break.

    I was so hoping he would comment on Tennenbaum tennis, but was bummed he took it so literally and didn’t understand it’s just making it extreme so you can feel the metaphor and the emotion of when you’re having a melt down.

    yeah, I wouldn't call Royal Tennenbaums a tennis movie. One character is a tennis player & there's a total of about 30 seconds of him playing tennis. But hey, there's not that many tennis movies so I guess we gotta include it.

    at the end of the day it is just a movie. it's never going to be an exact replica. what it should be is entertaining, first and foremost. What i think is important is that they capture the SPIRIT of what it is they are portraying. and i think the movie did a good job with that.

    the first three were done by cgi. in wimbledon the tennis was terrible. i'd say tennis was probably the best in 'strangers on a train'.

    Yeah, Mary Carillo would have been great for this. Not as famous as John, but she's a great talker and actually won a mixed doubles French Open Title with Mac back in the day.

    Love John, love tennis, but this video totally illustrates how unhelpful he is as a commentator. Every time he commentates a match half of it is irrelevant digressions and the actual technical commentary is often lacking. Can't help but enjoy his personality whenever he talks, but man, someone keep this guy on point!

    McEnroe is worse than Kyrgios- his abuse of linesman and refs was bullying and intimidation. He has a whiny sound to his commentating that I find irritating not like some greats of the past like Tony Trabert, John Newcombe, and current commentators like Woodbridge.
