Love this, thank you Abigail! I learnt from your old tutorial before discovering this, but love both versions! The only problem is, I need to sing it in F. I've made a pretty valiant effort of working out the right chord shapes for it but oh mannn its making my left hand hurt! Should I just persevere and will the LH tension go away? (it's from pressing the strings down sufficiently creating a real strong thumb press on the back - I think I must have a double jointed thumb) No worries if you don't have time to reply, I'm mainly just venting. Chords hurt! X

Oh man, I totally agree chords hurt!! In my experience, it’s just a matter of time before I get comfortable with the chords and my hand sort of recalibrates how much pressure it needs to make the chord work. I always try to be careful with the notion of “pushing through pain” because pain is there as a warning sign. But I definitely experience discomfort as I’m acquiring a new skill, and with time it subsides. Just make sure to practice the tough stuff in sort of short bursts, keep gently stretching your hand and wrist, and in the back of your mind hold on to the goal of reducing tension/effort over time. Another thing is to make sure you’re sitting and holding the uke in an efficient way. Sometimes shifting my position can make a big difference!
