TENCH FISHING TIPS - Target Shallow Lakes

Спорт

Well spring has finally arrived and so have a few Tench Fishing tips that I hope help some of you with your angling. We explore the fact that shallow lakes warm up earlier in the year than the deep lakes, and therefore can produce better results when targeting tench.
Certainly in previous seasons I feel like I've hit deep lakes too early in the year and have really struggled to catch fish. This year I've taken a different approach and have caught some nice tench on shallow lakes, simply fishing with a float, maggots and a few worms! If you've been struggling then this could be the key to unlocking success earlier in the year. We also have a closer look at some of the centrepin reels I'm currently using.
Thanks as always for checking out the video and please remember to subscribe on the link below :)

Smart advice, makes sense the shallow lakes are easier to target early doors. Temptation to go big isn't always the wisest move

I reckon so. Feels like we’re a few weeks behind too. Hardly ever into double digits at night (which I think is key). 👍

Nick - great video as usual. Tinca Tinca - got to love them - always been my favourite fish. Beautiful to look at and always give a great account of themselves. Mainly got mine on canals using the 'Lift' - nothing beats that float just rising up!

Great video as always. Love to see some more pin and float Tench fishing, maybe even some carp! I don’t use the float tackle enough, got suckered in to the method and maggot feeder but this vid has inspired. Feel a few afternoon/ evening sessions coming on👍👍👍

Those fish are in such beautiful condition. Those new floats look so good, I can’t wait to add them to my float box. Just out of interest Nick is that a fast net head? I want to get one of the floating ones, but I can’t get away from my Korum spoon and my latex triangle.

I agree Iv got a shallow pond that’s only 3ft deep I get the tench late match early April but my deeper pits don’t really come into to play until end of may 👍

Interesting that you feel the same as myself on this one. We’ve a got a spell of hot weather coming now so maybe time to move to the deeper pits for me. Thanks for the comment 👍👍

Hi Nick! I fish a 10 acre small pit that's quite deep but love my float fishing especially with a pin using the lift method. I know that shallow lakes lend themselves to the float but do you have any advice if the only place you can fish is quite deep and still want to float fish? (between 5-15ft deep in different spots)

Fish a sliding float if really deep. Those new quill float in the video have a nice large eye at the base and sliding floats have worked ok for me 👍
