Guided by Li's voice, Xu Wenwu begins breaking down the gate with the rings, which causes the minions of the Dweller-in-Darkness to escape. The villagers and the Ten Rings call a truce to stop the minions.
Meanwhile, Shang-Chi is revived by the Great Protector and rises out of the water to help them. Then, the Dweller-in-Darkness escapes the weakened gate and attacks Wenwu and Shang-Chi. Wenwu saves his son, bequeathing him the rings before the Dweller-in-Darkness kills him.

Conversely, other than the witty comedy here and there mostly by Awkwafina, this didn't feel as much like an MCU movie.

@@cringekiller348 oh boy, the MCU. It was a compliment about Shang Chi, but yeah, Thor 3 sucked, Multiverse of Madness sucked, She-Hulk sucked, so much post-endgame content is just abysmal. Nah dude, the MCU discredits itself by every release it does.

I think his death is needed to tell the Ten Rings that they cannot defeat the minions without the help of the people in the village. He is an elite fighter and his death means that those weaker/ less experienced than him stood no chance. But I really hope they made him kick some minions' @ss, or wings, or tail 😂

Yeah the tier two villains in the movies don’t really get credit, they ALWAYS get knocked off easily, all the way from iron man 1

Ben Kinglsy is an international treasure.
Definitely one of the standouts of MCU Phase 4. Actually, scratch that, one of the only TWO standouts this Phase has to offer. That including Spider Man of course.

He could be considered Part of the ANTI villain community in Marvel. His actions were not really good but also not really bad but he was also being used by Dweller-in-Darkness to get free with the love he had for his wife. It was how he went about his actions

The 10 rings are an awesome faction like how many times do bad guy factions keep fighting when it doesn’t make sense for them because they are the bad guys at least the 10 rings make that quick decision to fight together it gives them more depth

You're not alone. Everyone now knows what a Dijiang is because of cute little Morris. ❤️❤️❤️ FYI, the Dijiang are actually very obscure mythological creatures in Chinese legends compared to the dragons, phoenixes & others seen in the movie. Even we Chinese people aren't aware of such creatures until this movie came out.

Arrows and javelins are easier to reclaim, it's not like you can just mine dragon scales plus secluded villages don't exactly have access to new tech. If they had guns, it would be crappy muskets, not AR-15s.

The blade isnt 1 solid blade. Its kinda like a spring that holds shape. When the blade is out it the segments hold together to fold a blade. But then they fold into and compress when he retrancts it. Thats the only logical way I thought of
