George Harrison met Indian classical musician Ravi Shankar who was popular for playing Sitar. And George was greatly inspired by Ravi for which he took up the path of inner life and had a love towards Indian culture and Hinduism. The song 'My Sweet Lord' is one of the prooves where one can get to hear 'Halleluijah' and 'Hare Krishna' at the same time on chorus.
Donovan developed a crush on Jenny Boyd, sister of Pattie, during the time in India. She became a sort of muse to Donovan, and he wrote the lovely "Jennifer Juniper" for her.

Ringo didn't need any meditation. He was already well adjusted to life. Donovan also said of Paul that the melody's just flowed out of him while in India.

Best compilation of solo Beatles music because there are no Beatles songs anywhere on the White album. Not a one. "I was sick to death of being Paul's sideman when l had ten to twenty songs ready to go."- George. The best Beatles album is Revolver followed closely by Rubber Soul. "Plastic soul, man. Plastic soul."- Paul

First time I've heard the 'white album' called that! Overstretched and therefore weaker, but not as weak as For Sale, or the original version of Let It Be. @@imkluu fair enough because they are the Beatles actually working together as a team. Ringo was a rather sickly child, dealing with illness after illness. He fell into a coma at the age of 6 after a bout with appendicitis left him with a raging infection, then lost another year recovering from tuberculosis when he was 13. As a kid, he also discovered that he suffers from a host of allergies. “I’m highly allergic to onions and garlic and spices,” he has said. “I’ve never had a pizza, never had a curry.”
Thank you!

Do you know the story McCartney tells of John going up in a helicopter with the Maharshi? Paul says: "The guy comes over and says, 'Only one of you can go with the Maharishi in the helicopter.' And John jumps up and says 'Me Sir! Me Sir!' (That's John!). After I asked John, 'Why were you so keen on going up with him?' And John said, 'I thought he might slip me the answer!' (Very John!)"

The "answer" part, I believe led Paul to write the lyrics for Helter Skelter. In it he sings, "give me the answer". The whole song is probably a slam against his negative experience with the Marharishi.

Not Indian, not a Hindu (or any particular religion), but my current bedtime reading is my old and battered copy of The Upanishads (the old Penguin Classics/Mascaro translation). I do love and resonate with it deeply. 50 years ago, at age 17, had one of those big revelatory experiences about the nature of reality, a subject I'd been meditating on (self-taught) pretty intensely for some months. Not being able to find anyone who could/would discuss the revelation with me and advise me, the thing that really helped me begin to make sense of it back then and at least know I wasn't alone in the world in 'knowing' this extraordinary thing, was discovering the Bhagavad Gita and realising that at least whoever wrote this book 'knew' it too.. of course I've found many more 'knowers' of various levels of truth since then, but Hinduism was my first guide, and the one I've always come back to after exploring many other religions and philosophies over the years. Namaste! :-)
