Holy shit, the legend himself. I still want one of his repaints, I even have a couple ideas for a custom I would love done.

Two of my favorite repaints is Titans Return Quake and Selects Deep Cover Ooh also selects Greasepit And that two pack where they repainted G1 Kup and Wheelie into Orion and Dion

Some of my favorite repaints are basically EVERY reverse-colored Bumblebee toy, I'm very niche, I know. I also love every time a Megatron toy is heavy on black and purple.

My favorite repaint is Big Daddy the repaint of Cybertron Downshift. I took out Cannonball to compare to Red Alert and was surprised to see they do have the same head. Cannonball's repaint is so well done it is hard to tell. Great vid.

If you do this again, can you also add both modes? As you do both talk about the repaints in both modes a few times while, the image on screen is just in one mode.

10: Adventure Swoop looks like Kamen Rider Geiz to me... Specifically with the Faiz armor. 10: There needs to be more Cybertron Sideways repaints, like a Prime Soundwave due to the non-face Sideways has. Plus the shield is like Laserbeak. I still want Senator Ratbat though... 9: That Acid Storm is pretty good. Just a shame we never got Nova and Ion Storm. 9: I keep forgetting about those Universe 1.0 repaints... Only reason i remember that Depthcharge is cos i think there was a TF: Mosaic about him washing up alive on a beach after killing Rampage but discovering he and X had somehow merged into one being. 8: "TryptLock" looks pretty cool but will we ever get a Dinobot colours Trypticon. 8: Axalon is an obscure pick. I have the Energon Sharckticon and he's neat. 7 That Waspinator repaint, Parasite, looks pretty dope. He's got three friends too. Paralyzer (white), StormRider (red/blue) and Mudfighter. ()yellow) 7 Night Cruz has colours that remind me of Guzzle. 6 Oh YEAH! Fox Kids Tarantulas looks fucking SICK AF. 6 Cannonball is pretty cool. Another BotCon figure i want but can never have. 5 KNOW THAT I AM RAZORCLAW!!! 5 Oh YEAH! Fox Kids Tarantulas looks fucking SICK AF. 4 That toy looks toxic... Like he's dripping in glowing green ooze. Apparently he has the same intellect level as Perceptor and is Unicron's oldest herald. 4 I'm pretty sure i got Scourge for a decent price. He's complete but the missile pump has a leak, not that i mind. He's REALLY posable despite being a late G1 mold. 3 That toy is such a damn meme purely for its loud-ass colours. 3 Well he already LOOKED like Galvatron so why not make it official. 2 Cryotek is underrated. 2 Crasher/Fracture is a pretty good reuse of a pretty good figure. The DragStrip is also pretty good. Kinda weird that she's always an F1 car now when she was originally a Le Mans car. POTP Jazz would be great for her. 1 A shared #1. I had the original TM2 Cybershark but sadly he was lost to my careless child hands breaking him. :(

This video had exactly what I wanted in the Toyline Ranking video: A picture of the toy in question. Granted, it would have required ALOT of editing in that video, but hearing what was great about "this" toy or what was bad about "that" toy without any visual example left me a tiny bit confused.

This is just really enjoyable. I'm glad you guys got around to do this. Keep up with the excellent work

My number 1 is Unite Warriors Megatronia. I wasn't a fan of Victorion but paint the team black with a unique color for each individual member, which still works in combined mode is a work of art.

I preordered my megatronia years ago when it was only a takara mall exclusive. I like the molds and everything but Victorion was too boring all having shared colors and similar looking limbs barely making her even look like a combiner.

Okay, this is a really cool way to do a top ten!

The universe razorclaw has a retooled wing assembly that makes it so it doesn't fire the missiles from its cannons when they're flipped out. Extremely minor, same sort of idea as Primal Prime to prevent kids from shooting themselves in the face.

Still remember back when KB Toys was a thing and Robots in Disguise 2000 was still new, seeing Cyber Shark being sold right beside, and for markedly less than, Sky-Byte

Would love to see a video covering his favourite customs - or maybe even yours =D

My criteria for a good repaint kind of matches Grimlockimus. If it brings out molded detail that was lost in the original color scheme it's a great repaint. Also if it's if it either is repainted into a character I wouldn't have expected to work with that mold or if it's a mold with an alternate transformation. Like if we're talking a straight repaint with no remolding outside of maybe having a new head, just changing the transformation in some way can make them look like completely different figures. Generations Wheeljack and Tracks pulled this off really well... I wasn't a fan of how small Track's wings were but I was a fan of how the different transformations visually tricked you into thinking they were different molds. Some times I do this with my repaints even when they're not officially suppose to transform that way just to give them more distinction than just color scheme. BTW Scourge would of been my number 1... Honestly any time they make a mold that's based on Laser Rod Optimus Prime I want it in Scourge colors. I was didn't even know that G2 Laser Rod Optimus Prime existed and I'm not a fan of his color scheme. I think later Optimus Primes as that kind of truck did a better job of translating his colors but the weird fade of red to blue on his truck just never worked for me. Scourge however, the colors look awesome and the fact that there's actual fiction to go along with him and how great his was in the show, I just have way more attachment to this mold as Scourge. The Generations mold where he doesn't have a fake chest, it annoys me that it was only done as Scourge for a Botcon exclusive, and the Titans Return Voyager which was really meant for Octane but the truck mode and robot mode look so much like that G2 Laser Rod mold that I really wanted to see that as Scourge. I don't think they ever repainted that one as Scourge, instead we got Optimus Prime TWICE for some reason. I think the second release they added tampographs to mimic the look of the stickers on the original toy and that was the only difference. I would of much rather gotten a Scourge out of that mold. I would not have put Sky-Byte on my list at all... while he is more memorable as a character because of the cartoon... being color blind the color schemes are actually so similar that I never bothered to pick up the original Sky-Byte toy because I already had Cybershark and would just use him as a stand in. I couldn't tell the difference. I mean looking at them side by side some of the colors are in different places but as far as I could tell all the same colors were used on both figures. It wasn't enough of a drastic difference from me to replace TM2 Cybershark... until the Generations toy came out. Another repaint I really like from that series is Powerlinx Sideburn. I love the red and orange... I actually tend to gravitate towards those colors because they're colors I don't confuse for other colors. I can actually see red and orange so I instantly love that version more than the original Side Burn who I honestly can't tell if he's actually blue or not. I assume he's blue but he could just as easily be purple and I'd never know until someone corrected me. Is it cheating to use repaints that appeared in fiction but for some reason have NEVER existed as actual toys? Cause I really want a Predacon Rhinox from Dark Designs and the recolor of Blackarachnia from the Trigger. They both for some reason have silver highlights over their usual color schemes but I love how they look with that added silver and there's never been toys of them in those colors. I was hoping Generations Rhinox would get a Predacon repaint, never happened. Kingdom figures had another chance to give us those repaints instead we got a Blackarachnia in her original toy colors. I would much rather have that Trigger color scheme. There's also the issue with Days of Future's Past Tarantulas and Scorpinok never getting toys. Tarantulas was for some reason depicted in the comics using the same mold as Rattrap so that would of been another Ransack with a new head and Scorpinok was depicted... I forget the name of the original mold but it's the boat that got a fan mode into a toilet... anyway they exist in the fiction but we've still never actually seen those molds get repainted into those characters. There's also a Botanica using the Prime Soundwave mold that exists only in comics but doesn't exist as an actual toy. Even as a repaint of an existing mold Botanica still can't get a toy. If I remember right that design doesn't even have a new head mold they just painted Botantica's face over where Soundwave's "visor" screen is. Other repaints I really like... any Skywarp, he's always been my favorite of the seekers, I like the color scheme, I love the fact that in the original cartoon he could actually teleport. I actually have a Masterpiece Skywarp, it's one of the few Masterpiece figures I own and the only version of that mold I own. Some of the accessories don't make any sense as they were obviously intended for Starscream but it's a Skywarp and I got him on sale for $10 cause Wal Mart over stocked and were practically giving them away just to get them out of the store. Barricade from Prowl. Honestly I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner than Siege cause it seems so obvious. Fall of Cybertron Wrecker, and this set works better than the original Combaticons mostly because they actually bothered to paint in the "Tron" lights that were in the video game despite these characters never appearing in the game at all. They didn't do that with the Combaticons even though they WERE in the game. This fits my criteria of bringing out molded details that I didn't even notice were on the original toys because they weren't painted. Generations Wheeljack. I actually looked this up because I wasn't sure which one came first but Wheeljack is the repaint. There is some remolding here which I didn't realize but the big this is... because Wheeljack's legs are faceing BACKWARDS. It looks like they did a lot more remolding than is actually there. And the wings that look too small for Tracks are perfect for Wheeljack. There's also the Universe Sideswipe/Sunstreaker mold which they used to make Timelines Punch/Counterpunch because this mold ends up with two very distinct looking robot modes. It doesn't quite work as Punch/Counterpunch because his hands are backward in one of his robot modes. I believe on the original versions of the mold that only needs to have one robot mode the hands were assembled backwards to accommodate the direction he was meant to be facing But it still amazes me how they can make this look like an entirely different figure by just swapping the hands around and having the torso facing a different direction. So here's where I get into fan modes... Generations Skids and Crosscut. The way these figures are designed they have a lot of fold out weapons that can be stored away or displayed in different configurations. Even their accessories can be carried as one long riffle or two smaller hand guns. While officially they're exactly the same except for the head sculpt I keep them displayed with Skids only having one hand held gun and no other armorment. Crosscut however has all kinds of weapons because he's the one with the face plate I figure he should be the one who looks more battle ready. And they look like two completely different toys because of this. That's the kind of repaint I really enjoy the most when you can have them on a shelf right next to each other and can't even tell they're the same figure. I like Crosscut better by the way... cause once again Skids' primary color which I'm going to guess is blue is something I really can't identify that well but Crosscut is mostly silver with some red and that looks a lot better to me. I also LOVE Universe Depth Charge by the way. I never got a chance to get the original version. He just never showed up in stores in my area for some reason otherwise I would have picked him up cause he was one of my favorite BW characters. But when I saw the Universe version I was like... well it's not a totally out there color scheme like the other figures, it looks like they were going for a more realistic color scheme. Despite the clearly molded in tech details the colors weirdly work on him. My only issue with that toy is that the instructions didn't include his "vehicle" mode so I had to guess how to get him into that mode based on some pictures on the internet and I'm not convinced I even did it right. Had the same issue with Armada Terrorsaur and for some reason he's the only Transmetal repaint in Armada that didn't show the instructions for how his "vehicle" mode was suppose to look. I'm guessing because it was so bad they didn't see the point of including it but they did Megatron's and that's literally just fold his but fans out and fold his skates out. Cheetor's is just fold out wings. If they're going to include instructions for the super obvious ones why not Terrorsaur? Speaking of Transmetals... Fox Kids Cheetor has always reminded me of Hot Rod or Rodimus Primal because of all the red. And considering they have the same gimmick of folding out wings for a flight mode I'm surprised he was never repainted in a BW Tracks. Like I've never even seen a fan repaint of TM Cheetor into Tracks. Can Grimlockimus make this happen?

It technically has some added minicon ports so it maybe wouldn't quite work under the rules in the video but I'm personally a fan of the Armada repaint of transmetal Airazor. It's a classic black repaint that just looks nice and doesn't have self destructing chrome. One that definitely doesn't work under those rules (because of a new head) but still absolutely nails it is Prime Dead-End, which to borrow a phrase from the video, looks like a "toxic mess" in the best possible way.

Cybertron Dirt Boss should've had more repaints because as a kid, I used to collect Monster Jam trucks. With Dirt Boss being a monster truck, they could've done some crazy repaints with him like flames, skulls, lightning, etc. I'd buy every variant

10. Road Rage, as far as a repaint of a Diaclone color variant of the "Tracks" mold. 9. The silver City Turbo mold that was also used for Skids. 8. Turbine or the "Blue Cliff Jumper" figure. 7. "Albino Prime" a.k.a. Ultra Magnus who is a repaint of Powered Convoy, that was the last figure released in the Diaclone Car Robots line 6. Wasp a.k.a. "Green Bumble Bee". 5. Load Pedal "Decepticon Tracks". 4. The Transformers Animated figure of SlipStream, which may or may not have been released. 3. Powered Convoy a.k.a. "Delta Magnus". 2. G1 Masterpiece Watchet. 1. Prime Bulk Head, because in my mind in he could have been Road Buster in both TF Animated and TF Prime. Honorable mention: Tiger Tracks which is a yellow version of G1 Side Swipe.

I will say that next time you do a list like this it would be nice if you showed both modes. Really surprised any of the original G1 Sideswipe repaints didn't show up. All of them were really done.

There's an amusing Irony to saying how the tarantulus repaint makes him look creepier, because that's the figure that was used for his Shattered Glass version. Energon Galvatron probably works so well because the Energon Megatron was very clearly based on G1 Galvatron, which is probably why that's the only UT Galvatron to use the OG colours. Sky Byte and Scourge for sure,as you said, they're, particularly the former, instances where the repaint has surpassed the original in the eyes of fans (honestly, at least for me, the same could be said about a lot of the repaints in RID, but then I'm a child of the early 00s, so UT and RID where my first Transformers cartoons, long before I got a chance to go back and check out G1 or the Beast Era)

Timelines Circuit for me. I haven't seen another "rainbow-colored" Transformer look nearly as good as him.

It's funny to me that you say that Fox Kids Tarantulas is creepier, because if I'm not mistaken they used it as the basis for Shattered Glass Tarantulas. lol

I feel like the movie lines have been overlooked. So I'd like to add to the discussion dotm Cyberfire Bumblebee and rotf Divebomb. Bee for taking the typical inverted bee deco and adding a splash of fire lightning and his Glorious Hellpiping eyes. Divebomb. Taking the rotf scout Ransack biplane and giving him the historical Red Baron deco. Everytime I look at that toy I can hear Sabaton blaring from the middle distance.

I like Cybershark because I did have the Transmetal as a kid (I could never find the normal one, still haunts me to this day), but MAN, SKy-Byte takes it into overdrive, super saiyan, final form, any ultimate version you can think of, he is that. RiD2001 in general had some of-if not hands down-the best repaints, the paint budget of that line has never been surpassed, arguably not even by Masterpiece, a more challenging list would be top 10 repaints EXCLUDING RiD, because that's just unfair for all the other lines, they stand no chance against it, it's like making a top 10 movie's original scores and allowing John Williams to participate.

Favorite repaint for me is Chun-Li Arcee. Unlike the other three Street Fighter Transformers, it's impossible to mistake her for anything else but Chun-Li.

My top 10 would have also included both Cybertron Smokescreen (honestly when looking at him vs the original Crosswise, he looks quite distinct. I also would have had Brushguard - one of my favorite super obscure characters as well.

My personal favorite is the MP Delta Magnus because of it being a homage to the Diaclone Powered Convoy figure which would become Ultra Magnus

My favourite repaint is E-Hobby Convobat. Sure, has a different head, but its not a new sculpt so, I would say it is allowed.

I dug up my old Energon Sharkticon as soon as I seen the repaint. He too is a little dusty. But great figure.

The only one I can think of off hand came to me when SG Grimlock came on the screen. Also I’m expecting Generations Selects SG Goldbug, Generations Selects SG Optimus Prime. Good mold and I love purple.

Not sure how I forgot to mention these in my previous post but I did and I just woke up thinking about them... Movie Protoform Optimus Prime and AoE Evasion Mode Optimus Prime. I love the molds but the more screen accurate original versions come off looking more like Ultra Magnus than Optimus Prime due to the lack of color on them. Both have been repainted in the more traditional red and blue colors Optimus Prime is known for and they look SOO much better because of it. I actually opted for those versions even though it's not accurate to the movies. Universe Devastator from RID2001 Autobot Build Team. And... I don't actually know how to classify this one but it's the G1 Astrotrain repaint into more realistic vehicle mode colors. So you get the black train instead of purple and the white and black NASA shuttle instead of Grey and Purple. Not only does this look better as a disguise by putting him in colors you would actually see for those vehicles but the white and black provides a better contrasts so you can see the details on the shuttle mode much more clearly than the dark grey and purple would allow. Those colors are more iconic for the characters but they're both so dark they kind of blend together. Am I the only one who actually prefers the more realistic colors over his mors iconic show accurate colors? I don't own any of the G1 tripple changers but if I were ever to get one it would be that version of Astrotrain cause I think mold in those colors is my favorite. I was kind of hoping for the leader Astrotrain to get repainted in those colors too. We finally get a modern Astrotrain with an actual stream train mode instead of a bullet train or whatever Titans Returns was suppose to be... the only issue is... it's basically a voyager sold at a leader price point and I don't think he warrents it. I would love for that repaint without the added train car thing cause I don't really care about that piece. I just want the main figure in those more realistic colors. I would love that. Also... Cloud Hot Rod... Hot Rod from Springer should not work but it does and I love that repaint. They also did Starscream from Blitzwing which again should not work but some how does and I wish they did it again with the Titans Return versions. I would love to see more of these weird repaints of figures who aren't normally tripple changers as tripple changers. As long as 1 of the vehicle modes works for how we would normally recognize them I think that's what makes it work. If both at modes were totally random I don't think it would look as good.

God I hope we get a shattered glass Grimlock out of the SS86 mold.

Man, I understand the love for Sky-Byte, but Transmetal 2 Cybershark was one of my favorite toys as a kid and it legitimately made me sad that they never repainted the Generations mold into him. I never picked up that Sky-Byte cuz I was waiting for the repaint ;-;

I too am completely BAFFLED at the lack of Crasher out of the last two Mirage molds! Com'on Hasbro! Heck, Power of the Prime Jazz would have made a good Fracture too just on the strength of its alt-mode alone! It's RIGHT THERE Hasbro! I keep begging them for more Gobots hommages every time they post a new Generation Select repaint. Where's my Pathfinder out of Cosmos? Why didn't they make a red and blue RID Strongarm as hommage to Small Foot?

My number 1 will always be Cybertron Excellion. The red has basically erased the original Hot Shot from my mind.

Off the top of my head it's probably got to be Cybertron Galvatron he looks glorious, even more so when compared to Megatron. Nostalgia mention to universe Optimus primal the purple and green gorilla, something about that classic head in red gets me.
