So glad Otis is still with us. ❤
I remember the first time I heard The Temptations. It was 1965 and I was 17 years old. I lived in Johnstown PA, a little factory town 65 miles east of Pittsburg. To help me sleep I used to listen to a cheap, terrible sounding transistor radio and late at night that radio could sometimes pick up stations from far away. I don't know if the station I was listening to that night was from Pittsburg, or Detroit, but a song came on that gave me chills, and started my lifelong love of a very special singing group. Over the static filled airwaves I could hear a group singing in beautiful harmony what I thought was "Magic, magic, talking about magic". Needless to say I would soon learn that what they were actually singing was "My girl, my girl, talking about my girl".

What a nice story. Thanks for sharing it. My dad passed a few years back. I recall my dad telling me that the temptations couldn’t be touched. That they were baddddd. Music had feeling back then. I’m just grateful my father and grandmother passed it down to me. Every other weekend we’d go to grandmas. She’d play all the 60’s music. But during Christmas the temptation album stayed on repeat.
Whose still digging the tempting Temptations in 2022!?! It’s Motown baby❤️

Fantastic first chapter, I'm 50 living in London, England and love Motown with all my heart, it touches me in a way no other genre of music has, and all these years later I'm still trying to put my finger on the exact reason why I love it so much, the only reason I could come up with was....well it's Motown, Thank you all, each and every single person who worked, and continues to work on this beautiful music. Peace and Love xx ❤️🙏❤️

Idk about fame ruining him but there’s no “let” in drug addiction. That’s why we call it hooked. Ever see a fish on a hook⁉️ Addiction destroys. Fame won’t stop it. Feeds it if anything. It kills. He wasn’t the first, he made the biggest smash 💥 but he won’t be the last. PERIOT.

Wow I enjoy all these amazing singers! Going to Smoky's Robinson concert soon, here in Hawaii! I started listening to his music when I was 12yrs. Old,now iam 67! Love me some Motown music forever! 🙆♀️🤙🎼🎶🎹
I'm from Windsor Ontario right across from Detroit im 42 I wasn't around when Motown first came on the scene however i listened too Motown in tge 80s nothing beats the sound of Motown i would listen too my family about how the temptations the suppremes ( etc ) would come too Windsor and play .
I love what Shelly said at the end... Love, loyality, and honor. No contracts needed. It truly was a different time back then but this, _this_ what Shelly said, was real actual love, loyalty and honor in the purest of humanity. The world needs WAAYY more of! These guys are in their 80's + and they had decades and decades of success and now just get to enjoy doing what they love.
Love the Temptations. They are my favorite group/singers and Motown.
The Temptations- known for their smooth choreography and distinct harmony- Happy Detriot is my roots!❤❤❤
I’m about to be 35 years old and seeing old school footage like this from the 60s makes my day !! Glad they recorded and documented all this stuff to share 60 years later
David uplifted this group to its max potential. If he never would have joined; they wouldn’t have been who they were. Smokey seen it which is why he stepped in. Things changed when the 70’s got closer.
Motown will live on forever. The music speaks to the soul. 🎼❤
These guys are my favorite group.I love you men

I'm so excited for this documentary I love The temptations one of my favorite groups until this day I still listen to The temptations
Otis and Smokey, thank you for sharing>3. I LOVE Motown interviews, testimonies, documentaries, movies, and the TIMELESS music goes without saying. I will never tire of watching. I look forwared to seeing more. You are both absolutey right, I toally agree, with all due respect to the other labels, they know as well, Motown has a family sound/an amazing winning unduplicated, unmatched formula/magic that to this day no other has been able to measure. And supporting each other, a huge facet within itself. That's real teamship/family. A major key to success in any company/group,etc. Each artist having their own Legendary and outstanding style very beautifully knitted. The class, elegance, style polish- the excllence. Allthough the artists are greatly talented enough, sending the them to school was genius and really paid off. I wish that others had done the same. It says a lot decades later, the truth speaks for itself. Looking at most, if not all of today's amazing talents as well as all of the Legends throughout the decades -present, great example Beyonce', were greatly influenced by Motown. And that fresh stayiing power/polish shines right through. In my opinion, looking troughout the decades, Motown stands out. Period. Sending love with lots of hugs to you all/the whole Motown family/your families>3. God bless>3.
Motown was a well oil machine love this documentary!!!
That's awesome I love to see this as the world change for the worst that we have something to look back on and remember when friendships loyalty honor values and above all talent singing dancing writing and above all unbelievable music you don't hear music today with instruments horns drums a time when people dressed nice went out and enjoyed themselves I'm sorry I ramble on . It was just a beautiful time in life I guess we will have to deal with the nonsense the world had to offer today but at least we have this to look back on and appreciate these documentary's wow times have changed stay safe everyone happy new year God bless
Great story of the history of all those associated with this legendary "Motown Sound " , Keep'em coming. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

An AD popped up on Facebook of the Aint Too Proud to Beg Broadway tour, and here I am looking up footage of the show. lol. But I came across this video. I was born in the 90's, but grew up listening to The Temptations because of my dad and older cousins. I absolutely love Motown! This video footage is such a treasure! It just shows how successful Motown has become because of each person and the culture that they had back then. They were all trying to make it, but not compromising integrity. What a beauty.
Great viewing Chapter 1: The Beginning. I know the chapters that follow will be just as great! #TemptationsForever
Just my imagination and Smokey’s Ooh baby baby are on my daily play list when i’m at work in the restaurant. These are the vitamines i need to keep on going.

so grateful I got to visit Motown in May 2021. I got to stand in the spot that David Ruffin did his vocals for I Wish It Would Rain. I love Motown music more than words can express 🖤
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART OTIS WILLIAMS FOR THE AWESOME MUSIC YOU AND ALL THE TEMPS BROUGHT TO US. I know the words to every Temptation Song. I’m 65 now so that’s a miracle! LOL We LOVE YOU and ALWAYS WILL! I was pretty young when you guys started recording. I could not understand the pathetic racism that you faced. I was ashamed, and embarrassed by those horrible white people. They should be roasted by now! Thank You again for all the memories that you gave me with your AMAZING MUSIC! There will never be another group like the Temptations, NEVER. I want all your songs played at my funeral, and for people to get up and dance! LOVE YOU OTIS!!

It worked and has last because of 'Unity'. CONGRATULATIONS
The MOTOWN SOUND; my, my, my; this music was a big part of my childhood growing up in the 70’s. The Jackson 5ive was my group back then; in fact Jermaine Jackson inspired me to learn to play the bass; of course later I found out that it was Jameson and later Babbitt who was laying down those legendary bass lines. Anyway, without The sound of Motown the 60’s & 70’s would have being missing a part of it’s history because Motown along with all of the rest of music from that era really help make those times so special. MOTOWN 4-Ever. 4-Sure. Peace out ✌️
I have been anticipating this doc. It was really well composed. I was expecting it to be a lot longer. I hope part 2 and so on will be released soon.

So glad these pioneers of Motown included Mr Smokey Robinson, Mr Otis Williams and all the rest of these treasures. The fans like me, are delighted these artists finally received money payments, not material things only. Their money is their money, but, Cadillacs belonged not to the individual artist unless they were paid and chose to buy one for themselves; how wonderful it was for the truth to come out, that drugs were also given to artist, that can be named to pay that individual rather than cash money or traveler's checks. We all, Motown artist fans, their families and especially themselves as a group or solo artist got tired of the playing games, these valuable gems and jewels were not s-l-a-v-e-s nor working for the enjoyment only for others, the fight and struggles continued longer for some than for others. Know this, enough is enough!
Amazing documentary
