    I have been a dental assistant for over 25 years. (Im on my husbands iPad)...I’m not a big fan of these composite temp materials. I prefer block acrylics. But these are good for better esthetics for the anteriors. As for this case.....Sorry but those margins had major bubbles. Tip from me, do not put material in mouth then in matrix, the temperature of the mouth will set the material faster than in the matrix. By adding in both areas this will cause distortion or bubbles.. Only put material into matrix. Also remove the interproximals in matrix. This will allow the material to flow into those areas, assuring proper contacts.

    You're absolutely right about not putting the temp material on the teeth then the matrix. Only the matrix for sure. And I also agree with you regarding the strength of these bisacryl temporary materials, they aren't that strong. I almost always use some pre-made soft metal temp for molars, they can take a beating and they won't crack.

    Great video. Thanks! One question -how do you make a temp for subgingival margins? Example: you wax up the tooth on a stone cast and take a putty of it to make the provisional crown. However, clinically an area of the margin is subgingival. The temp you made from the waxup does not incorporate this. I am confused how to make a temporary if an area of the margin is subgingival. Thanks.

  • @manavkalra

    @manavkalra

    7 жыл бұрын

    hellogoodbyeapplepie hey great question. it's not perfect but the simple solution is apply a little material directly onto the margins (like how you do with light body during impressions) with the auto mix gun and microtip. contouring the putty matrix close to the margin will also help.

    Hi I always find when doing this after loading the temp crown material and seating it , the temp crown is stuck well to the prep without cementing it . Any tips to allow/ get of the temp from the prep once it's immediately done such as painting the prep with a separating medium so you can prep are the margins and temp bond it on ~?

  • @manavkalra

    @manavkalra

    9 жыл бұрын

    y r hey, that's a great question... I'm sure all of us at one point in time or the other have had this happen to us, first of all separating medium wont really help, as the acrylic is not bonding with tooth structure, its merely getting lodged in into the undercuts. These are thing things you can do: 1. Block adjacent undercuts with simple modeling wax. (inter-dental areas) 2. Before you attempt to remove the crown, cut the excess out with a sharp instrument, the more excess you can safely remove the easier it will be to pull the crown out. 3. acrylic crowns are not as rigid as ceramic, so they dont chip or break that easily... try using a pneumatic crown remover in difficult situations... the crown will mostly just pop right out. 4. Do not over load the putty matrix, more material means more clean up later. 5. If you are still under confident. dont make the temp in the mouth. use an alginate impression model to fabricate outside the mouth. the so called indirect technique. Hope this helps!!

    No this is bis acryl. It's used in all the leading temporary materials like luxatemp, protemp and systemp. It's properties are ideal for intra oral used. That is... It's considerible less exothermic than pmma, it shrinks less and it has a high gloss/finish.

A great temporary will pay you back in the long run! So make sure you temporize all your crown and bridge cases. hope that helped!
