Temple of Elemental Evil - D&D Adventure Board Game Series

Ойындар

Here's a little hidden gem that I'm sure no one has heard of!
lol.
Anyhow...thought I'd show that its possible to have some basic fun.
Sorry about the camera wobbles. I was experimenting with a new camera position and tripod mount, and didn't realize that the tripod was resting against my old table.

Nice video. I have all the games in this series and have only played Castle Ravenloft. I need to get these to the table. I too wish the cards weren't so bland, but I think the dungeon tiles are pretty good. Well, see you in the next one.

They’re fun. I think the earlier ones are better. The later ones added complexities that don’t make them better.

I finished the campaign. No spoiler but great finish !! Love that game. Dungeon of mad mage is a must too. Especially the premium edition

A little late to the party here. After several years of avoiding this game system due to lackluster art along with my concerns that it would be too simplistic for my taste, I bought Castle Ravenloft on a whim for Halloween 10 days ago and have been having an absolute blast with it. $40 well spent! You're right, it's all about level setting expectations, getting into the right frame of mind. There is something to be said for the simplicity of both the game engine and the scenarios. The constraints of both keep the setup time and gameplay very manageable and this allows me to get it to the table more often than other Dungeon Crawls I own. but within the game engine's constraints is a reasonable amount of decision space AND randomization. Both feel just about right to me. I'm pleasantly surprised by the Dungeons and Dragons Adventure Board Game system. Like you, I wish they'd at least pretend to care about the art and design. But mechanically, Castle Ravenloft fills a light-to-mid range void in my gaming life. Unclear if I'll pick up more titles in the series, Maybe if I complete the 13 scenarios in this one, and paint the minis, etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this game system. Looks like ToEE offers some nice additions to the game system.

    They're solid little games.

The tiles & the monster minis is the bang for buck here. I really don't care for most of the PCs in these games or the rules. To make the game useable for me I'm going to add in my own more classic race/class PC minis, ditch the rules in favor of White Box FMAG or lighter ruleset & use the tiles + monster minis when I come across a dungeon while sandboxing or for a dungeon crawl. Could also be used with 4AD in place of graphing out the dungeon.

Not boring at all!! Watching because I’m thinking about using it as a ‘gateway to gaming’ game for my twins who just turned 13.🙂🥦🦖

P.s. I had a recommendation to not pull on not exploring? Still pull on black triangle, etc., but not if we don’t explore. Any thoughts of that for making it a little easier on kiddos or other suggestions. (Not playing next till weekend.) 🥦🦖

I would play rules as written. Making the game easier in this way would actually just make the game more boring.

I won’t buy these just because I know it won’t offer anything different than my other DCs and I won’t have the urge to get it to the table. Right now my go to simple but fun game is Heroes of Terrinoth. But glad you enjoy it. I think they’d be great fun for kids as entry level DCs

Erik PEters I don’t really care for HoT. Feels like a huge step back from the WHQ version. Hopefully they make it better. At least it should have a future.

I have WHQCG too but haven’t played it but it seems like 90% of gameplay is the same. What didn’t you like? The fact that it didn’t have a campaign? I do prefer the art of WHQ I must say

Picked up wrath of Ashardalon for cheap and we enjoyed playing it. Did you even play Tomb if Annihilation? And if so do you rate temple if EE over it? Or vice versa. Thanks for the review.

Yeah, gonna keep my eyes peeled for it. Something about it, the simplicity of these games really works, when you need to scratch the itch. Have ordered folklore the affliction as we play d&d and I’m praying I won’t find the bookkeeping too much of a chore, and my wife and I love the rich story idea. For some reason I’m on the fence about massive darkness. The setup looks a bit much ( and it’s quite a hard game to get in the uk anyway). My friend has Gloomhaven, which we were several scenarios into , so I won’t get that for me and the wife. We’ve been playing journeys into middle earth. Also have descent 2e (borrowed and still Unplayed). Wow. I really do love a dungeon crawl! (And if course your channel Fits right in there)

Also like you said the cards and tiles are not at all visually appealing which for me is a fairly big deal
