It's just the strangest thing to be driving through the desert and suddenly this HUGE blue lake appears...just...WOW!
I used to camp there every memorial day as a kid. The campground was great. The water was up to where the hotel was when I was there. Stunning to see it so low
Thank you for posting this. 30?yrs ago I purchased an acre property sight unseen (in a Thrifty Nickel) btwn Dolan Springs & Meadview off Greggs Hideout Rd. (Some bandido from yesteryear) 11 miles to the shore going up to the Lake. Long story short I checked it out eventually fell in love with the area & had planned to build a 200 sf Winter get away but never had enough time to fully scout the area. I fabbed up the walls rafters etc in my backyard in CO last Spring/Summer had a few set backs but then chickened out due to the shut down for this yr thinking everything would be closed. Again thank you, you've shown me more than I ever had time to see during a Weeks Vaca throughout the yrs I've had the place (plus at the time other than spending 1 nite on my property there was Vegas & Laughlin to distract me) Looking at my maps of the area there are several 4WD backroads to these locations you have showed us. This Fall I am there (building) come Hell or low water!!!!
Great timing for you to have a self contained home you drive. Have a private restroom, water & food, etc. Stuff closed, no problem. You can even nap if you're tired. RV is a good idea.
I love just watching the road go by. Other than two trips a couple miles to the store I have been no where. Six weeks at home and my Sprinter wants to go, go, go.
So that’s what blue skies looks like😎
Wow, I'm from Kingman and I haven't been to the lake in about 12 years. The water has retreated soooo much. I miss the lake camping and mountains.
I used to goto Temple Bar all the time. The water level used to be up where you parked by the cabins. At one time they had to put sand bags near the store on the right as you are leaving the launch ramps
Russ I'm really glad you hung in there and made that long drive all the way in. What a cool place!! Thank you!!
That campground looks really nice - at least when it’s in the cooler months.
This was so beautiful. The water is an amazing blue. Your videos are just so colorful and the scenery is gorgeous. Thanks for taking us out of our houses. We are still shut-in and these videos are so wonderful to watch. Excellent video and we thank you so much for the trip out! Can’t wait until the next trip!

Did you really allow yourselves to be shut in? How do you feel about that now 2 years later, lol.
Around 1980 we stayed at Temple Bar, it was just a motel and small marina.
Willow beach is open now. We tried yesterday but you have to pay again and it is super busy there. we didn’t stay. All of lake mead was so busy. Was wondering what Temple bar was like. now I know. Thank you for sharing glad I found your channel.
Amazingly beautiful campground considering one’s out in the middle of nowhere. 🚌
Lol I know you know the 2 happiest days of a boat owner is the day got & day sold🤣 enjoyed watching Russ 👍🇺🇸
I was just there last Monday 05/02/22. The boat ramp is now closed. The cement doesn't extend to the water anymore. The whole area was deserted. Sad to see, however, the campground is very nice. Two friends and I spent 2 nights there. We were the only ones in the entire campground. Once out on the water on kayaks and e-foil we found the water very clear and beautiful.

I also made a short video of our time out on the water. It’s on my channel
There are showers at the Temple Bar campground n nice bathrooms.Stayed there several times and fall is the best for fishing.Good job again Russ.🙂
I remember when I went 35 yrs ago it was so hot you couldn't walk on the sand but the best views were in the boat
I turned 62 a few years ago and got the Senior pass when it was $40. The hubby got his when they were $20. Those really are a bargain. The lake still looks gorgeous. That is a nice campground. So long as people respect the spacing, you can get a decent camping experience, even when there are a lot of people there.
When that "Road Construction" sign popped up on the way to Lake Mead, Russ, I fully expected to see that guy with the road grader again.

too funny
With the pass, you also get a discount at Corp of Engineer campgrounds. We use mine several times per year when camping. Good video. Enjoyed the scenery without enduring the wind!
Tim Woodward...miss you bro' Great times at Makai Cafe!! Sippin" hef at Barley Brothers!!! Great memories"🤙🤙🤙
I remember Willow Beach when I was about 6 yrs old. I stubbed my pinky toe on a huge rock and tore my toe nail off. I was wearing flip flops. What a reason to remember a place, 😄😄
Well, yesterday you passed by the turnoff to my White Hills home. Just before the Last Stop. It feels strange to know that you went by. I enjoy your videos and am able to see a lot of interesting places nearby thanks to you!🌵🌵🌵
Way back in the 60's, my stepdad had a Lone Star boat, and we went to Willow Beach. It was narrow compared to Lake Mead. Thank you for posting a fun video again.
Thanks for all you do Russ! I really appreciate the videos... they're keeping me sane!👍 Hope all is well sir!
I enjoyed seeing a different part of town. Thanks Russ.
Yes 28 miles but beautiful drive.
My family used to go here almost every summer in the 80s' and loved it. We got caught at Temple Bar on the lake during a sand storm. Our anchor was stuck on another anchor and could not move. We finally pulled it up and made it back with 4-6 foot waves. We parked the boat at the dock getting blasted by the sand storm and headed back to our cabins. We could not get in them because there were other people in them! They let other people in our rented cabins and put all of our belongings in trash bags during a storm. As if these people could not wait in their vehicles or the store... WE never came back there again. I was 8-9 years old and never forgot that.

Wow, some people really do suck.
I have driven this stretch way back when it was just 2 lanes, it was a killer in those days. Glad to see this has been completed
That primitive campground is really nice to stay at. Looks like they have cleaned it up from last year. It’s been a mess for a long time. You did not drive through the upper part which has been closed for a long time and not watered. Lots of palm trees were dying. And I have never seen so many people at the marina, but I have always been there when it was cooler. You should come back in the fall to camp there. It’s a great place.
Great video. I was there in the 90s three times once in a houseboat. We stayed at that motel second room at the end, good place to crash. So beautiful and so much fun😀 miss boating and miss the lake, Colorado River, and Lake Powell but times change unfortunately. Thanks for the memories😁
1st went to T.B. in 1991. We would boat around the Temple with plenty of water beneath us. You could walk from the campground to the marina in less than 10 minutes. Takes about 3 days now!
I've camped at Willow Beach and kayaked to the Emerald Cove (~3 miles each way). Willow Beach is a beautiful place to visit/stay. There is RV/camping available, including a small general store and a restaurant. However, the road down to the beach is very rough in places and the road requires constant maintaince due to rock falls, washouts, etc. I'm not suprised it has to close from time to time, especially after heavy rains.
This place is awesome once you get out of the main area and head towards Nevada you can have whole islands to yourself. Haven’t ever seen it this busy. Lol normally very few boats are here for a lake that is miles long
Excellent long ride Russ, it's gorgeous out there.
If I ever camp around that region I am going to camp there.
Thanks again Russ we have seen so many new places this year with you. Love going for rides bonus I don't have to drive it been great already waiting for the next trip.
Russ, you're a life saver. I love the drive!
Thanks Russ for your videos. You make me want to travel more!!
Beautiful Lake in the middle of no where! Nice drive Russ. I can’t imagine what the traffic would be like if it weren’t for the pandemic! Ugh! Thank you for the ride along
Keep the Vids coming Russ! I love them! 😎
I was stationed at Nellis AFB Las Vegas Nv back in the 80's so your videos are a "blast from the past " for me :>) I remember standing in the water at Willow Beach, Az in the summer with the water being so cold coming from under Hoover Dam your feet would hurt almost instantly. Only reason I never went to Temple Bar back then was because of the distance...what a mistake after seeing this video! That campground was beautiful and well kept...just the way I remember Lake Mead campgrounds back in the 80's :>)
Thanks Russ, so satisfying.
Thanks for the ride along, Russ! You are driving and the A/C is on, there's nothing to complaint about.
That was an awesome video. Go to know that the Van can make it down there. I will check it out!
Hi from Australia ,Another great road trip , great to see your country side through your eyes ,
😸it’s my favorite hideaway those cabins have a queen size 🛏 bed stove/fridge but no toilet 🚽 a/c & table & chairs 🪑.I’m a rock hound,& theres turquoise there I some times find 😼.nice video.✅ that front fee area hasn’t been open in 10 years 🤷♂️there’s a small herd of wild donkeys that run around & desert hares that are near 3’ tall!!!😁.some of the nicest sunsets too.thanks 👋
I was just there in Feb.... we also took a 7 mile dirt road trip to Bonelli landing which was nice. I live in Vegas and venture out every weekend. Enjoy watching your videos.
Hey Russ, a nice tour during these slow times! Travel safe and stay cool! I hope that little A/C unit is holding its weight.
Now this is an interesting place. Thanks Man!
Thanks for taking the time to do the extra 28 miles to the Temple Bar Marina. Fifty years ago the raft trip I took down the Colorado through Grand Canyon terminated there. I recall there might have been a small hotel there, but that's about all. After a little research, I found out the the Las Vegas Marina was relocated there in 2002 and the Lake Mead Marina was relocated there in 2008, which is probably why there is so much activity there now. Both the Callville and Temple Bar marinas are now operated by Forever Resorts. I suspect they may manage the hotel, mobile home park, and campground as well. Most of the other launch areas are small time operations now, due to the lake receding. I'm sure Forever Resorts has been doing everything they can to keep it the busiest launch area on the lake. I think it's probably the only one with a new highway all the way to it. Keep up the good work. I really appreciate your videos.
Thanks Russ, you are awesome! Stay safe out there!
We live by kingman and visit willow beach often for lunch ,fishing and walking through the fish hatchery Another cool thing is you see many rams in the hillside at willow beach.. Temple bar on most days smells so bad that we quit going
I never went to Temple Bar by car but that was our gas stop while on the way to Gregs basin back in days fishing bass tournaments. I have never seen the lake this low, thanks for the ride very enjoyable, stay safe!
As usual great video.
I know you’ve commented several times how low the lake is, and it is. But if you think it’s low now you should have seen it in 2017-18
Nice Job Russ. I have started watching your videos along with other folks and it really gives me a chance I would otherwise not get to see the west. SO much to see so many cool things. Keep up the great work and happy trails.🙂
Awesome Russ! That road in leaves you wondering if you are ever going to see any water. It is worth it once you get there though.

A shout out to Jim Smoke in Havasu....good times opening the Red Onion back in 2007...what's up Robbie"
I've enjoyed your coverage of the lakes and reservoirs. Especially your recent one's of Lake Mead. You are right, sad, but still beautiful. I had not heard about the new Interstate 11. Thats cool.
Wow the lake has changed. It looks like the Colorado river.
owned an acre of land in Dolan springs for 40 years....sold it not too long ago.. very nice video
Yeah, that campground looked like a nice place to stay. Good video Russ take care😊
🙋♀️Even with the wind against you, you were able to get really great drone shots of Lake Meade, the Campground was very welcoming looking. I liked the shady-ish somewhat private areas the campground had to offer. I really enjoy my days spent with you. Helps to keep my BP ↓. (*If your ears were burning earlier, I'm to blame for it. Yep, I got a little bit excited while making a payment over the phone when the representative told me they were in Arizona. I had to ask if she was near Quartzite, & she said she was. I told her I follow Russ of RVerTV, & I just love him! I've seen a lot of beautiful places there. She was very much familiar with you. *)

Dam I remember when I was there in the 70s when I was a kid the place has changed.
I say you driving past Family Dollar Store. I was in your live chat. Great content. Thanks for your commentary 👍🏾
THANKS!
Really enjoyed your video. I’m from Vegas and have always wanted to do more camping and road trips. Thanks!
Google “Emerald Cave” a short paddle from Willow Beach. And Chloride is a fun place. Lived in Boulder City, would be in the water at sun up, paddle over to the dam. I’m in Oregon now.
Years ago with a 26’ SeaRay Sundancer Temple Bar was our go to. Thought it was permanently closed. Good times
TY Russ for the vid
love your channel.....
Wow, thanks for the content!
Awesome. I feel like I am on the road. Very well done! Great camera work and funny stuff too. 😄
I heard of a funny definition of 'b.o.a.t.' "Break out another thousand". And another one was..."a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into' And finally...The happiest day in my life was when I bought my boat. The next happiest day in my life was when I sold my boat.
Very Kool..........
Nuther nice video...thx!!
Nice video, thank you... That tall flat top area out across the lake is Temple Bar. There is a lot of history all around there. They Mined placer gold there in the 1890's. Just East of there is Gold Basin Arizona, nice free RV boondocking on BLM land. It also has nice placer gold, and even a lot of meteorites are found there. Your second drone shot, that big dirt flat area is the Temple Bar Airport, the Park Rangers take off from there, and patrol the lake. You said wind is blowing real hard, but I dont hear it on your gopro, what do you use to block the wind??
After covid works it self out, I recommend you travel north to Canada and see what an actual lake looks like. We have hundreds of thousands of them.
Cool! Looks like Lake Pleasant AZ.
Worked at Rosie's Den as a cook back in the 80's different now wow ..

Great time to repair Hiways.
In Tonapah NV. Heading To Austin. Its good to have company.
I wonder what that's like now. Pretty nice campground.
I’m chomping at the bit
Pull over Russ. You sound tired. I'll drive for a bit
Just a note. Hunt with your metal detector in all the old dry swimming areas you can. That’s where all the loose change and jewelry is located !!!
Should just head to Mead View🤔👋
We got our Sr Pass several years ago at White Sands, NM. Best investment we ever made. Used it tons of times travelling W to E & every place in between.
Thanks for the cool video! New subscriber here. 😀
Bravo , Thank you Russ . Your RverTv fans Love your channel ; videos . RVerTV is Outstanding. Your Canadian fans state ; Have a nice day , Eh.
The 2 best days in a boaters life. The day he buy's it, and the day he sell's/burn's it.
This a great spot during the summer, but you have to make reservations early if you want a motel room. I'd say April at the latest for summer. It can get real windy.Camping is a challenge, you'd better be a seasoned camper with all the equipment! An RV or motorhome is the best situation because you can stay in the RV park. Better have AC in the summer though. Even at night it's really hot. This is a great boating spot. Very scenic, and desolate. You think you're in the old west as you travel up lake!
🗽🗽🗽🗽come back🔜.
Hey Russ, you should go to Eldorado Canyon, NV, and mine with Scenic Blue Water Point off of 95 on one of your trips I haven't been there for a few years. It's an old mining town and a little farther down the road is the river. There are these cliffs that the kids go to jump off into the river.

That's all closed down now. Too many drunk party people were trashing the area along the river, so the Park Service shut it down.
Thanks Russ, great video. Every once in a while I think about buying a boat. What are the problems with boats and why are they money pits? Thanks
Terrific photography and soothing voice. You sound like Bruce Dern. The high flying antics of your drone are terrific and the video quality is excellent. The background music is very low which is good so I can hear you.
Good morning Russ, where do you buy that senior pass for all the parks?
