Thank you for posting this. 30?yrs ago I purchased an acre property sight unseen (in a Thrifty Nickel) btwn Dolan Springs & Meadview off Greggs Hideout Rd. (Some bandido from yesteryear) 11 miles to the shore going up to the Lake. Long story short I checked it out eventually fell in love with the area & had planned to build a 200 sf Winter get away but never had enough time to fully scout the area. I fabbed up the walls rafters etc in my backyard in CO last Spring/Summer had a few set backs but then chickened out due to the shut down for this yr thinking everything would be closed. Again thank you, you've shown me more than I ever had time to see during a Weeks Vaca throughout the yrs I've had the place (plus at the time other than spending 1 nite on my property there was Vegas & Laughlin to distract me) Looking at my maps of the area there are several 4WD backroads to these locations you have showed us. This Fall I am there (building) come Hell or low water!!!!

Great timing for you to have a self contained home you drive. Have a private restroom, water & food, etc. Stuff closed, no problem. You can even nap if you're tired. RV is a good idea.

I used to goto Temple Bar all the time. The water level used to be up where you parked by the cabins. At one time they had to put sand bags near the store on the right as you are leaving the launch ramps

I was just there last Monday 05/02/22. The boat ramp is now closed. The cement doesn't extend to the water anymore. The whole area was deserted. Sad to see, however, the campground is very nice. Two friends and I spent 2 nights there. We were the only ones in the entire campground. Once out on the water on kayaks and e-foil we found the water very clear and beautiful.

I turned 62 a few years ago and got the Senior pass when it was $40. The hubby got his when they were $20. Those really are a bargain. The lake still looks gorgeous. That is a nice campground. So long as people respect the spacing, you can get a decent camping experience, even when there are a lot of people there.

My family used to go here almost every summer in the 80s' and loved it. We got caught at Temple Bar on the lake during a sand storm. Our anchor was stuck on another anchor and could not move. We finally pulled it up and made it back with 4-6 foot waves. We parked the boat at the dock getting blasted by the sand storm and headed back to our cabins. We could not get in them because there were other people in them! They let other people in our rented cabins and put all of our belongings in trash bags during a storm. As if these people could not wait in their vehicles or the store... WE never came back there again. I was 8-9 years old and never forgot that.

That primitive campground is really nice to stay at. Looks like they have cleaned it up from last year. It’s been a mess for a long time. You did not drive through the upper part which has been closed for a long time and not watered. Lots of palm trees were dying. And I have never seen so many people at the marina, but I have always been there when it was cooler. You should come back in the fall to camp there. It’s a great place.

I've camped at Willow Beach and kayaked to the Emerald Cove (~3 miles each way). Willow Beach is a beautiful place to visit/stay. There is RV/camping available, including a small general store and a restaurant. However, the road down to the beach is very rough in places and the road requires constant maintaince due to rock falls, washouts, etc. I'm not suprised it has to close from time to time, especially after heavy rains.

Thanks for taking the time to do the extra 28 miles to the Temple Bar Marina. Fifty years ago the raft trip I took down the Colorado through Grand Canyon terminated there. I recall there might have been a small hotel there, but that's about all. After a little research, I found out the the Las Vegas Marina was relocated there in 2002 and the Lake Mead Marina was relocated there in 2008, which is probably why there is so much activity there now. Both the Callville and Temple Bar marinas are now operated by Forever Resorts. I suspect they may manage the hotel, mobile home park, and campground as well. Most of the other launch areas are small time operations now, due to the lake receding. I'm sure Forever Resorts has been doing everything they can to keep it the busiest launch area on the lake. I think it's probably the only one with a new highway all the way to it. Keep up the good work. I really appreciate your videos.

I liked the shady-ish somewhat private areas the campground had to offer. I really enjoy my days spent with you. Helps to keep my BP ↓. (*If your ears were burning earlier, I'm to blame for it. Just East of there is Gold Basin Arizona, nice free RV boondocking on BLM land. It also has nice placer gold, and even a lot of meteorites are found there. Your second drone shot, that big dirt flat area is the Temple Bar Airport, the Park Rangers take off from there, and patrol the lake. This a great spot during the summer, but you have to make reservations early if you want a motel room. I'd say April at the latest for summer. It can get real windy.Camping is a challenge, you'd better be a seasoned camper with all the equipment! An RV or motorhome is the best situation because you can stay in the RV park. Better have AC in the summer though. Even at night it's really hot. This is a great boating spot. Very scenic, and desolate. You think you're in the old west as you travel up lake!

Thanks Russ, great video. Every once in a while I think about buying a boat. What are the problems with boats and why are they money pits? Thanks

Terrific photography and soothing voice. You sound like Bruce Dern. The high flying antics of your drone are terrific and the video quality is excellent. The background music is very low which is good so I can hear you.

Good morning Russ, where do you buy that senior pass for all the parks?
