Tempest in a Casserole (Box 13): Old-time Radio Adventure

Ойын-сауық

Original Airdate: May 28, 1948. Alan Ladd stars as Dan Holiday in Box 13. Nick, a local restaurateur in LA, contacts Dan to help him deal with a series of strange doings at Nick's Place. It seems some group wants to run Nick out of business so they can carry on some kind of business of their own. This tale seems to have been inspired by Conan Doyle's The Adventure of the Red-Headed League. Enjoy!

Thank you for the uploads of these great otr shows. Generally so much better than anything else to hear or watch. It helps that I grew up with older parents because the long is more familiar to me, though you don't need to know all the lingo to enjoy the shows. ☺️🙏

Most of the "air tubes transfer system" were used in department stores through the 1940's and into the 1950's. It may be difficult, as in this episode, for most listeners to visualize what is happening in the department store when Dan Holiday is attempting to "catch" the thieves in their act of stealing. Again, this was another excellent "Box 13."

True. I threw in a visual of those at 20:19 for that purpose. I remember the use of them as late as the 1960s in New York City.

@@Tsnore It was helpful to visualize the tubes. Also, this is March 13, 2020, and I find that you and your cousin have not been uploading new programs for the last three to four months. Is there a problem? I check every couple of days to see if there are new programs since you are one of my four favorite people on KZread and Bit Chute.

@@walterwheeler5465 Hello Walter! Yes, thanks for patronizing the 'Snore Boys' sites. We will shortly be downloading several dozens of radio shows from late March/early April once again, including old-time radio mysteries, classics, detective stories, Tarzan adventures, The Whistler, Frontier Town, Inner Sanctum, The Fat Man, Molle Mystery Theatre, Dangerous Assignment, and various OTR Westerns. There was a problem for a while when some North Dakotan law office went after both of us for supposed copyright infringements and threatened to shut us down, so several downloads were removed before they stopped bothering us. Thanks and see you soon!

Thanks for tuning in Rupak. And many more to come all year long! I have been a fan of old-time radio since the early 70s and accumulated loads of lps, cassettes, and discs through the years. AFN radio was a great source for years until they stopped running OTR around 1995. Cheers!
