THE GENIUS OF THIS COMPOSITION IS IT'S SIMPLICITY YET IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS MORE GOING ON IT THAN THERE ACTUALLY IS ? ? ?
Philip Glass has a complex history. You are listening to one of his reachable minimalist themes. Einstien on the Beach is a bit more difficult, but some amazing pieces. The sweet spot of his career is the opera Satyagraha. The whole thing. Dark and light. Minimalist Dark Side of the Moon.
WE ARE ALL COMPOSERS & MUSICIANS NOW ! ! !
This is wonderful soundtrack music. Its actually weird for me to hear it without seeing Koyaanisqatsi. I'd really recommend watching the film - with the sound cranked up. TY John.
Interesting and unique music. But still good.
You made me find out who Phillip Glass is. Composer of the music of "Koyaanisqatsi". The music should not be recipiatated without the video.

Funny thing is that Philip Glass did not want to compose the soundtrack so Godfrey Reggio cobbled up an makeshift soundtrack using Glass' excisting music, made him watch that to prove his point and ... well after that the soundtrack was created. :) I found out Glass with the first trailer for GTA IV (2007) where they had part of the "Pruitt-Igoe" playing. I was immediately drawn to that and had to dig to find out who's music it was. And I have been a fan of Philip Glass ever since.
Not related but you had mentioned you love synths, on another video. Well you listened to Johnny Winter, now listen to his brother. Edgar winter group, with Rick Derringer live, song is Frankenstein. As a matter of fact I think Edgar invented the synth strap so you could be mobil and play like a guitar. Your mind will be blown! Go down the Edgar Winter rabbit hole, that ought to give ya your synth fix... For now:) oh yeah released in 1972, so a early pioneer I'd say, probably the band called Yes, also seen em live 78 or 79, tripping, Dude that was show of all shows on synth, anyway. Took my friend, my sis. And me like 7 hours to drive back home, and the show was only 50 miles away....talk about gettin lost on some bumfuck country roads at 1 in the morning, no signs, or street lights....WOOOOOOO! I know why they say the good ole days, were lucky were alive... HaHa
Another is by ELO band, song is It's a living thing....1976
This musical panorama is a perfect match for the frantic melange of film scenes in the poetic, symbolic, realistic, disturbing ecological nightmare movie mosaic "koyaanisqatsi". There are no actors, no dialogue, no plot - just Phillip Glass' stream of consciousness musical score.
On KZread search for "Baba O'reily orchestral". It seems to me that Phillip Glass was inspired by The Who.

It seems to be a feasable option... P.G. always has been very aware of musical scene...
So don't see that you've listened to Yes their first album, 1971, that's a good one
Not Bay City Rollers. - Yes me like.
You're handsome.
THE THING I LIKE ABOUT MINIMALISM IS THAT LESS IS MORE ! ! !
GETS A BIT REPETITIVE & HENCE BORING/ANNOYING AFTER A WHILE BUT THEN THAT IS THE POINT, ISN'T IT ? ? ?
