This is adjacent enough for me to be able to mention that Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont Spelling Bee is a real show on TV New Zealand, it is run by the same Guy Montgomery from Til Death Do Us Blart, and it is hilarious. As of my writing this, you can find the whole first season in a 6 hour video on youtube

Okay, but how was this not called "That's A Brits-mas to Me"?

An anorak is a sort of overcoat thing - but in slang terms, it means someone who is super nerdy and pernickety about something. So Sports Anorak of the Year was a quiz show where they would test people's knowledge about really specific stats and stuff of sports. "Who was the top scorer of the English Football League First Division in the 1890-91 season?" and that kind of thing. It didn't last long. Also, it's crazy to me that someone would know Fawlty Towers, a very niche short-run comedy, and not know something like Vicar Of Dibley that was so mainstream and lasted a million years. It's funny what things make it across the pond for whatever reason.

Yeah fawlty towers is surprisingly well known in America, probably because of our obsession with Monty Python and any piece of media that included its members

I'm not sure if this game has legs, for the long haul, but gosh it was funny this time
