Strings that transitioned him into Lion's Heart can now be cancelled by holding back. This is a huge buff because it makes him feel more responsive to play, and allows for better mixups from db3,2, ub2, left/right ducking 1,2. It also helps with wall carry. He also got a while standing sonic fang, ws1+2; he finally has a i14 while standing heat engager.

@@yeeticusxl3318What do you mean “Finally has an i14 while standing heat engager”? from my understanding that’s really rare, I know Jin doesn’t have any while standing heat engager let alone i14. While standing heat engagers in general are really rare, I honestly can’t think of a single one of the top of my head. Edit: I did some research and I can’t find a single example of a while standing heat engager let alone i14, that seems like an insanely powerful tool to have. I know that Jin, Kazuya, Paul, Law, Jun, Xiaoyu, Jack-8, King, Lars and Nina don’t have while standing heat engagers. I can check more characters, but I think that’s enough to show that it’s really rare to have if not just non existent till now with Steve.

@@dylaroo24 It's a strong tool that on other characters with i15 launchers off standing and while standing, would be absolutely overpowered. On Steve, however, I'd say it's pretty balanced seeing as the most amount of damage he'll get off a ws1+2 heat dash is around 40-50 damage (depending on the follow-up). If the heat dash guaranteed a full combo, now that'd be insane. Another character with a while standing heat engager is Reina with ws1->unsoku 3.

@@yeeticusxl3318 Ok, I wasn’t aware of any other while standing heat engagers, good to know that Reina has one. I was more curious about the wording you used which kinda implied that he should’ve had this move or something similar from launch. If the damage is like you say then sure, I suppose that’s not too crazy. I’d be curious about your thoughts on the Jin nerf though, I think it’s a bit worse than people realise. I’m shocked to see how much they nerfed Jin’s damage in particular. I understand the arguments about Jin being more poke focused and whittling down your opponent and thus he shouldn’t have crazy damage, I just don’t think this damage change really has much to do with that argument. Cause the only combos that took this hit are his heat dash combos and his CD1 and CD2 combos. If they took damage away from his easiest zero execution combos, I’d understand, but why nerf only his hardest combos that require just frame inputs just like Kazuya’s? My favourite CD1 combo was nerfed by 15 damage, that’s an insanely heavy nerf for such a risky and situational combo. The combo was CH PCD1 into PCD2, B3,Zen1, BF2,3,ZenU1, BF2,1,2, Wall bound, Heat Burst, FF2 heat dash, FF4 while rage is on, this used to get me a very respectable 119 damage pre patch, after the patch it now gets 104. That’s a huge nerf to combo that requires 2 just frames starting from a -13 on block i15 mid launcher and requires CH, Rage and wall bound to get that kind of damage. It’s also made the heat dash FF2 into FF4 ender practically useless due to the insane scaling, it used to do 3 damage for FF2 and 13 damage for FF4, now it’s 1 damage for FF2 and 6 damage for FF4, so you are getting 7 damage for expending heat, may as well save heat and use heat smash on wake up or use omen as a mix up. They literally turned up the scaling on FF2 by 200%. I understand nerfing FF2 push back, range, recovery, even it’s normal hit damage, but it’s scaling in combos was never one the those things I thought was OP about that move. So it’s like they nerfed his damage, they nerfed his oki, and they nerfed his heat utility of which Jin wasn’t even that oppressive in heat compared to many other characters in the game like DVJ, Jun, Raven, Claudio, Hwoarang, Xiaoyu, even Kazuya I’d say is more oppressive in heat the Jin. Seems like Jin got a pretty big nerf overall despite them really only changing FF2 and CD1 and CD2 combo damage.

What? He literally was one if not the weakest character in the game technically and damage-wise pre-patch especially compared in t7 where he was a hard character but rewarding at the same time. This buff is great for him
