Tekken 8 Is Absolutely Superb - DF Tech Review - PS5/Xbox Series/PC/Steam Deck

Ойындар

Namco's back with a brand-new Tekken, built for the latest generation of consoles and PC... and it's simply brilliant. John Linneman goes into depth on the new game, its use of Unreal Engine 5, its newly refined visuals and excellent audio. All versions of the game are covered, from PlayStation through Xbox to PC - and there's a look at an optimised experience for Valve's Steam Deck. Oh - and input lag analysis too, via the best in the business, Nigel Woodall.

Absolutely. I grew out of all these side scroll fighters in favor of games like God of Wars, Spider-Mans, Last of Us, Star Wars Jedi games, Resident Evils, Ghost of Tsushima, Avatar, RDR 1/2, ect ect. Because games today look this good and that is the reason I buy Hardware in the first place And I want that narrative-driven offline awesome gameplay. Games I'm happy to play now later an years later without the Online ball an chain Garbage. Without any of that I would have zero reasons to even be in gaming today and it would save me a whole bunch of money

Maybe now is the right time for them to try a 3D MK again since back then 3D was in its early days. But I understand that both Street Fighter and MK would be very hesitant about returning to 3D since going back to 2D is what saved them both as we all know. Tekken of course started as a 3D fighter and it's still basically the same mechanics that worked back when it started so it's like tried and tested. I'd love for MK to try another 3D fighter, they've learnt so much about what makes a good fighter fighting mechanics wise. So maybe now they could do it if they wanted to. sorry for the long message@@DonYoGi8331

great review. especially the steam deck info. the tsr upscaling tip made a huge difference. sadly using your settings on my (non oled, using proton ge 8-27) steam deck resulted in consistent drops into the 40s or less, especially at the back of complex stages like urban square. just in case others were having the same issues as me, here are the best settings i could come up with to compensate: resolution 1152x720 (really helps) v-sync on variable rate shading on rendering scale 50 (yeah i know...) upscaling tsr anti-aliasing medium shadows low textures high effects low post-processing low backgrounds medium expect to get a stable 55 in almost every situation (i set frame limit to 55 in deck performance settings), and 60 in most stages besides the urbans. might drop 2-5 frames in the far back of urban square day during heavy effects. if you want 60 everywhere, accept the extreme blur/ugliness and drop everything to low. but i feel like this is a good balance where things run acceptably well while still looking kinda pretty (tho a bit blurry obv).

@Digital Foundry: You need to play act 15 (the final one) of the story mode. There the lighting is significantly improved on the Fallen Destinyy stage over the regular gameplay and actually matches up to the original announcement trailer pretty well. I wish though there was an option to always play with this lighting enabled on PC regardless of mode

Best settings I’ve found for maintaining a mostly consistent 60 fps on Steam Deck (might drop a few frames in the more demanding situations): -Steam Deck frame rate limit of 60 fps -Resolution: 800p -V-sync: off -Rendering scale: 55 -Upscaling: AMD FSR 1.0 -Texture Quality: Medium -Post-Processing Quality: Medium -Remaining settings: Low Hope this helps anyone struggling at keeping a playable steady FPS.

Went Xbox and saw the results of this analysis, the Series X has a slight edge in resolution and latency so I'll take it! Also have two Series S' (one in the bedroom and one in the kid's room) so game sharing for the win. Such a great time for fighting games between this, SF6 and MK1. I still have to try some online matches. Tekken, the Royal Rumble and the NFL playoffs sum up my weekend. Happy gaming everyone!

Not a fan of the trend in overdesigning the look of these characters though. I prefer the clean iconic look of the classic characters from the T2-4 era. And why is Law so thiccccc? He's supposed to be Bruce Lee!
