    Just by translating most of the capabilities of this audio instrument into visuals is a HUGE achievement. People like me that relies heavily in visuals to learn, understand and communicate have an instrument to make music. Without the visual aids people like me would have not dare to try and create music. This instrument is worth every dollar. And its the first time that such instrument relies heavily on visuals.

    The production cost is in the programming and coding, not in the hardware (it's not an analogue synth after all!). The components are "cheap as chips", but the manpower to code those components is not. Hence the high retail price..

    I really like your ingenious use of the splazzlefunt control. It seems to be the best you can get without having the glarbulator and fliffleplarf knobs, though if I were TE I would've at least had a bungzlap to tweak via midi (sort of like having the old gweezl slider on the plimptap which used to blob my nobtab)

    Great tutorial, very helpful. Thank you! Is it possible that you are clipping the output most of the time? More good, clear content - nice 1, fella. There was a moment a couple years back when the price of the OP-1 was madly hiked, at which point I kinda dismissed it as just too expensive. But as I learn more about it's very deep and wide functionality (largely thru your vids) it's actually starting to look like decent bang for your buck... But twice the bang of an OP-Z? If you completely dismiss cost, which of the two do you naturally reach for? Which is more fun? Or perhaps better - which is more inspiring?

  • @callumalston5755

    @callumalston5755

    2 жыл бұрын

    I have both, think it depends on how you want to play/how you learn. If you prefer in depth sequencing the OPZ is far better as far as sequencing is concerned and you have the ability to quickly delete and edit what you’ve written which the OP-1 doesn’t give you. If you’re a visual person the OP-1 is definitely going to give you visual feedback the OPZ doesn’t. It really depends what you want them for

I haven’t been able to get the output loud enough to ever hit the red peak led even with 4 tracks going. *** I think I figured it out. Had to turn the drive up.

    Nah, I think that's a different thing he was talking about. Presumably he talks more about it in another video. I haven't seen all of these yet. But the String synth wasn't pre-recorded. He was just trying to say that the reverb is one of the only ways to create a sound in stereo. The only other way apparently being by manipulating the tape in some way.

    this is an amazing instrument but it seems that mst of the time it feels so glitchy and electro it feels rather limited in the timbres it is able to create, not they they are not interesting. i just wish is had a more traditional synthesis engine maybe the knobs could be multi functional by going through pages to access the more normal synth settings, osc types..etc... I just cant feel that by making this as qwery and weird as they could they kinda put themselves in a corner as far as the range and diversity of its sounds. It kinda puts me off. I had one for a while and could not get into the work flow, lack of piano roll style sequencer and stuff... was a bit too far from a traditional studio/daw set up for me.. I wish I could just borrow one maybe rent it for a while to see if it would be worth having as a mobile production tool then take those sounds back to the pc daw of sampler at home.. just hard to part with 750 second hand and then not be so into it again.. these sort of videos def helping me to understand it better..
