This concert was almost 53 years ago. We had it all, but didn't realize it at the time. Chicago sounds as fresh today as it did back then.
Make Me Smile is another great song for you to hear. Studio version I would listen to first!! Terry Kath's guitar talent shows on this track along with his vocals.💥
When you start loving "Chicago" you have arrived young man!
These guys were so great at this point in time. How lucky we are this was captured on film.
The words to this song get me all misty inside, everytime.
Awesome reaction Silas! Chicago with the horns and Terry Kath’s guitar was a new and different sound for rock. One of their greatest jams to listen is “ I’m a Man” 1969 black and white footage. They are amazing in that video with all kinds of percussion and Terry Kath killing it on guitar. They called themselves Chicago Transit Authority back then.
Written by keyboardist and lead singer Robert Lamm, "Beginnings" is off Chicago's debut album "Chicago Transit Authority" which was the band's name until it was shortened to Chicago. Prior to Chicago Transit Authority, they called themselves The Big Thing.
This is my favorite Chicago song. I hope you enjoy it.
My brother and I played in a community stage band when we did this song, the audience sang the words…… just such an unbelievable time…… got a love having a brass section in your band. Such wonderful memories. I miss those days I miss that America.❤🎉 Auto correct really sucks That’s the reason for the edit.😂
Look at the video "1973 Saturday in the Park & Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is", at a BBQ with friends with Al Green at the end😎
For a band that was criticized for an extensive horn section sure made some great songs..my favorite song is 25 or 6 to 4
Awesome song from early Chicago. I love this live version.
As an old boomer musician, our band did Chicago covers all the time. One of my top 5 greatest bands of the 20th Century. Peter Cetera did some great solo stuff. Check out the 2017 South American music festival live performance with Cetera. You will love it. I did Bobby Lamm's piano part and vocals. Enjoy!
Head to head one of the most musically gifted bands.....ever.
Ah - Chicago. Brilliant band. The first half of their career was their best time in my view (their more prog rock era if you like). The 2nd half of their career was a lot more commercial which disappointed their more earlier fan base.

Exactly.
Another one that is so uplifting and perhaps even more so than this one is called, Feeling Stronger Every Day. It has all the horns and everything and I know you would love it. There's no way not to move to that song.

@@robinfra52 I love the build but man is it a build. Every time you think they can't bump it up anymore they do, and it's all part of it, the horns, the tempo, the drumming, just the increasing fullness of the sound and it just gets more energetic and more energetic. I never get tired of it because it produces a feeling of almost euphoria and triumph in me. And I say this as a musician and I can really appreciate everything they're doing musically. But it totally packs a punch emotionally in such a positive way.
My gosh what a great jam. I'm accustomed to hearing the album version of this but this one is epic. This is a band that sounds as big as their numbers. This is also recorded at a time when most if not all the bands were great.

The tempo is a tad slower than the album version. I keep wanting to speed it up!

@@Wordsmyth8 Yeah I know, some are too fast live, others are too slow in various bands.
I love Chicago, one of my first loves and concerts at the Indiana State Fair back in the 70's.
Dude - keep digging into this concert! One of the best bands of a great era, at their height.
Feeling stronger every day,is my fav.
My favorite Chicago song. Never get tired of it. But I wish you had listened to the album version.
Gotta love a T-bone solo in a rock song! That doesn't happen very often. And yes! It is an uplifting song!
THEY WERE THE FIRST BAND THAT GOT ME TO PLAY A TRUMPET LOL
Great reaction! 😃 Chicago was one of the great "feel good music" 😄 bands of the early 70's, I remember their music had a knack of putting you in a good mood. 🙂 They were like a hit machine, many great tunes, 🎶 recommend "Saturday in the park" and "Does anybody really know what time it is". 🕓 Thank you! Peace! ☮
My absolute favorite Chicago song!🥰👍🎉
This whole concert is aired and is fire! 🔥🔥🔥
Make Me Smile from the same concert is a masterpiece, or just watch the whole concert.
4:40 I have long felt like one of the many fun things about playing in a band Live is all the various forms of communication that occur between band members. So much of it is so subtle because if you play together a lot and especially if your friends on top of it, which I've been lucky enough to be in that situation most of the time, it's like you can almost read each other's minds. But then there are things where you say well, we're just going to have to do eye contact on this part. In fact it's so funny because it's basically a cliche. But you have to do it sometimes. And then also, it's not uncommon for someone who is in the focus or for the front man to suddenly just name someone in a band to take a solo. That's the really really fun part. Both directing that activity but also playing along and being ready and suddenly someone nods at you and you can even say it over the microphone at live gigs you can say, Take it away Stevie D! 😀 And then you step forward a little bit and launch into your solo, and it's so improvisational and yet we all know how exactly it's going to go and the wheels could never come off. We can deal with anything basically. All of that is just so fun and it's great to notice it when you're watching bands. And of course in this situation, you're limited by whatever the camera is showing you, kind of like at a baseball game you can't always read them giving signals to each other because they're just not in the frame of the camera. That's why it's nice to be at the game, just like it's nice to be at a live show up close to the band.
You'll love this!! 10K is on the way.
Silas ,,,you're a cool dude with an open mind and an open heart when it comes to music and I'm hoping life too. Don't ever change. It's not worth it. All the rabbit holes you're goin' down are very cool. There's so many incredible artists out there that made music for all of the right reasons. You're hearing it and you're feelin' it. Keep ridin' the wave you're on right through your entire life.,,,,,,I'll be watching !!!
This was a great make-out song. The girl knew you were serious when you put on the studio version of this song.
You can watch this entire concert on KZread “Chicago at Tanglewood 1970”.
Aw yeah...this is a total banger by an amazing band...and Terry Kath was an underrated genius and left us far too young. ✌💯😢
The studio version of this song is livelier and has a surprise ending.
Epitome of a Vibe.
Nice , young people appreciating classic rock
Silas , you give me faith in the next generation!!
They were outstanding to hear and see them live. They don't miss a beat, Interesting is that you noticed silence at times, it planned and sometimes silence in theses songs is there bring a new awareness you to reframe you.
Great reaction. Songs from my early kid years i was 3❤
Musicians communicate when they look at each other.
surprised, so young dude appreciates so unusual part of old music
Great Song. So many good Chicago songs but I'll pick one I think you would like "Saturday in the Park"
I saw Chicago live June 2023
Not my cup of tea. But, I enjoyed it and always fun to see a live performance 💥
No matter what it is, Terry Kath takes it to the next level.
“I’m a Man”, same concert. Actually, the whole concert.❤️
You have to do "Color My World" it is a short song, unfortunately. Played at thousands of weddings.

Please react to Stargazer by Rainbow!!
Sounds like you might appreciate some Steely Dan.
you need to watch the entire concert: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kaN10bWTYtyXk9o.html
Can you react to Dire Straits Sultans of Swing Alchemy live
I only watched this because I thought Kath might do something, but alas. 😒
You guys have got to start listening to the album. Not live
Try the studio versions first - much more polished!
Next up: I'm A Man
The original version is a thousand times better, IMO.
