Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. Being deaf does not make you dumb, just as being able to hear does not make you smart. Never make fun of or treat someone differently in a bad way just because they don’t have what you have instead encourage them and include them because at the end of the day they are human just like you.

it is possible. in the video, they weree reading catcher and the re and the great gatsby. both books are what i read in 11th and 12th grade. so assuming they are my age, i took an ASL course in dual enrollment and learned alot of sign in about 2 months. enough to keep a conversation going for about an hour. sign language is relativly easy to learn, seeing that it uses pretty easy hand movements to convey words. people learn tiktok dances in 10 min to a day, your saying learning ASL in a few MONTHS is impossible?

Sign Language is the noblest gift God could ever give to deaf people. From another person's perspective it's easy to judge, make fun of someone or bully a person because they think it's hilarious that the person is very different than them, but when they're the ones who experience it, it becomes a lot harder. Thank you Dhar Mann! For reminding us the struggle of people having a disability. 2 lessons we've learned today: - Never judge someone until you have walked in their shoes - Treat other people the way you want to be treated

Thank you so much Dhar! I learned ASL in high school, and we had a day in school called "silent day" where ASL students were only allowed to communicate with ASL for a whole day. I found it very interesting to learn what it's like to go through a normal school day where most people don't understand what you're saying, it was quite thr struggle, but it was cool getting to teach some sign to my friends as well as other classmates. Thanks for the amazing message! Really hits home 😊😊

As a deaf person myself, I would like to extebd a thank you to dhar mann for yhis video. It exemplifies what everyone in the deaf community go through everyday in their lives. The bullying should end! Always trying to communicate with people is difficult enough. We don't need people making it worst with things like bullying. We need people to make it better by putting themselves in our shoes and seeing what its like for people like us. Thanks again Dhar! Means alot that you go out of your way to teach people this lesson. Also, I LOVE how everyone was communicating in our way by the middle of this video. It really went well. ❤😊❤ Thank you so much for the likes and the comments. I thought I'd explain the reason for my deafness. I was born with Kernicterus and became deaf a few days later. The only reason we found out was because my mom accidentally dropped something really loud on the ground and came to me only to see I never reacted. She then took me to the emergency room because at the time, my birth country was never really aware of deaf people. So I don't know if I was born deaf or when I became deaf but I was sick first. I was actually BORN jaundiced and with Kernicterus.

I may not be deaf but I do have a hearing disabilty so sometimes it hard for me to hear others and understand what they say and i have to ask them to repeat sometimes more then once some are willing to be patient with me others just give up on trying to comunicate with me and it hurts and in a younge age i was bullied for being diffrent but thankfuly im no longer bullied but some people still treat me diffrent so I may not know what a fully deaf person lives like but i do know pain of being treated diffrently and this story reminds me not everyone treats me diffrent i have people who stick up for me and are patient with me God Bless you
The deaf kid in my school is threated really well, she's included in everything, and all the class (all the school actually) knows sign language and when they don't know they try to communicate with her.
This made me so emotional because I relate to it so much! I feel like the deaf and hard of hearing community isint talked about as much as other disibilities out there so im very glad that there is a video on here! I really hope you make more in the future to spread awareness because this could be the first step of not keeping us in the dark! In my school, the teachers despise other students being mistreated for something their born with, so they made a separate part of the school just for deaf, blind or any other deasease. At my school they act like they care but it's obvious they don't. "I'll take care of it!" Nothing. "I'll talk to them!" Never happened. If they do something they just give them blank threats. "You'll be suspended if you do this again." The bully did it 5 more times before finally being suspended(if your lucky)! Plus, my old teacher hated me because I was the mean girl. Uh, no I wasn't. I punched a kid in the face to get him off of me when he tried to choke me!!! I am never trusted. Besides, my school team(we are divided by teams. 3 for each grade.) is known as the worst team in the whole 7th grade. With kids stealing things, hurting kids, getting into fights, calling each other names, swearing, rumors, death threats, and not listening. Our opposite team(The 8th grade team) is the exact opposite. The angelic team. All the teachers did was call one team meeting to "discuss" what we were getting ourselves into. AKA they screamed at us, and said none of us would have a successful life if we didn't get our act together and they would tell the 8th grade teachers to keep a hawk eye on us next year. Fun fact: Out of the 102 students on team 7-2(my team) I have only seen 11 students actively fight. Swearing is normal at my school but the teachers are trying to stop it. Only 4 boys actually steal things. Around 20 kids hurt kids but its never purposed, they are just rough housing. Every team has rumors and all of the rumors that have to do with our team aren't set by us, usually it's team 7-3. Kids call each other names as a joke. Kids that don't listen to the teacher usually are doing other work or are actually listening they just don't look like it. "So you see", the teachers are ok ruining are lives for next year even though a lot of us don't even witness it and are confused. Your lucky. The teachers at my school also treat special needs kids like they aren't. Like getting in trouble for not doing they're work quick enough because of they're special need.

I dunno when I was in school they mainstreamed me. I’m legally blind and I took honors and AP (Advanced Placement) classes from 6th through 12th grade. But kids fed bullied me for being legally blind….they would take my white cane, put gum in the key hole for my locker….I had trouble using combination locks so I used a key lock to unlock and lock my locker and they’d put gum in the key hole so I couldn’t get my books….so from 6th through 12th grade I carried all of my large print books….I had two sets of large print books one set at home and one set at school I also used large print paper to write notes and I had notebooks for each subject so I had a huge backpack I carried every day….In gym class kids put gum in that key hole too so I couldn’t change cloths from my gym clothes to regular clothes and they tried to give me swirly’s and everything. Eventually they took me out of PE because it was just too much bullying…. But as an adult I mean I get there were problems with kids bullying me and the school didn’t do anything. I mean I have my MBA now with a concentration in Data Analytics I love math and science!! But I mean kids in school were crazy and the school didn’t do anything we’d tell the principal and he’d just say “boys will be boys” and my mom was like ummm No that’s not gonna work…. I just feel like all you can do is fight back and stand up for yourself. I don’t think putting me in a separate part of the school would’ve been good since it taught me to stand up for myself I mean being bullied was annoying but I loved my honors and AP classes especially Calculus, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science etc.
4:37 “Why is he being so mean?” Me: Why are you just standing there?
Treat others with kindness
This is such a true story.. the other day I saw an African American who is deaf getting bullied. He was blind as well. We should all treat each other equally no matter of or race, size, gender, or special needs. God bless to anyone reading this!
I used to watch videos like these and in the past I would get triggered because it would bring back memories of how I was bullied. But now I think I'm coming to realize that it's great that there is more awareness being raised to people with disabilities and it really warms my heart. This community really truly is changing lives.

I guess it’s the right intent, but this is not realistic. I doubt a whole entire school would actually go silent just for one bully. A class maybe, but the whole school is bs. Like how do you teach 900 people sign in a day. Plus, in real life, they probably would’ve just suspended the bully. I’ve seen blind and deaf people in school, and nobody ever messes with them.

"But he's making us lose!" this was how 99.71% of all middle school/elementary school wars started xd One literally lasted for over 7 months before the teachers stopped it lol

4:49 damn he’s so immature 😂 and he’s like what in high school?
Anyone else noticed that Nico looks almost exactly like Damien from the Prince Family?
He thinks everyone is deaf during that school day making a big fuss and mad over it his facial expressions and madness crack me up like tears of laughing 😂
And this y I love deaf people, they are always kind to other even if they don’t know them/they just met them like 5 seconds ago, and there’s no talking- so no need to hear someone talking, just peace and quiet with a human. I’m talking asl at my school to understand them so I can communicate with them, they really do seem like cool people!
Who else here randomly started watching Dhat Mann and is now completely addicted to his amazing channel? ❤

“He’s DEAAAAAOUWF,remember?” Me-and I’m about to from my ears *bleeding* from that voice
Something I noticed was in the part where Nico is sitting in the back of class. When he is signing "Can I move to the front?" When he first signs "Can i", you can hear him actually whisper it. Its at 1:48 if you want to find it. You need to turn up your volume so you can hear it.
Love your videos, Dhar Mann! I will have you know that I am deaf. I lost my hearing when I was 5 years old due to disease. I am the only one who is deaf in my family and I know how it feels to be deaf. I can read, write and speak English and I am fluent in ASL. This new video will cause me to chuckle when that hearing teen was enrolled to a deaf school while struggling to speak to everyone. This title should be “Hearing Teen makes fun of Deaf School and lives to regret it.” We’re not just telling telling stories, we’re changing lives.

Happy to see a video about ableist bullying. I went through a lot in school. A dance team coach even frequently referred to me as "the team cripple," which is extremely offensive and a disability slur. Thanks for showing everyone what it looks like to make school more accessible for a student with a disability. Although, in the US at least, Nico could have gotten a translator in his 504 if the school could afford it, and he could have petitioned the school board for the funding for an interpreter because he has the right to accessibility in the school. Disabled rights matter.

exactly what i was thinking. his teacher should have known his need to lip read and to sit in the front of the classroom if he had a 504

@PiXie BeRRie I have to deal with abliest everyday I have a speech delay and I am not the best at talking and coumminting and kids would be mean to me and think that I was really dumb and they called me a retard one time and I can't control it and also a kid said that I was cursed by god and it made me feel like that I was less smarter than everyone else but jokes on them I am smart and get good grades they just never took the time to listen to me and just judge me base on a disabilty that I could't control

@PiXie BeRRie oh team cripple is a slur that someone would say to a disabled person it means they are that person you say this to is weak and useless
Cursed things: Nico (not Christa Paffgen) = Shoko Nishimiya (A Silent Voice) Product placement (avoid it) Nicki and her friend knowing Nico is deaf despite being new Nicki and her friend getting everyone to make Evan walk in Nico's shoes
Bruh, I could just all day blast music, yell all the insults I wanted, and probably get no consequences. And if I am apparently not doing well in school, I can always pinpoint the teachers and they would get in trouble for bad communication. This would be paradise
Evan reminds me of Draco Malfoy. People that have these kind of problems need to be treated just like people without these problems. They can’t help these problems. “Were not just telling stories, we’re changing lives” I love your videos Dhar!!😊😊

I am taking ASL right now as a Freshman in High school, and I like how they moved the chairs in a circle cause that's what you do when everyone "deaf".
Thank you so much dhar mann! A few months ago I wrote a comment about raising awareness about this and you finally made a video on it!
This is HANDS DOWN the best video you’ve ever made. Truly a walk in another person’s shoes.

At least Evan learned his lesson in the end, but he had no right to ever blame Nico for his 5-lap punishment just because the latter is deaf.

That's what I'm saying
If your school ever actually does this to you to teach a "lesson"? Sue them. That's not an exaggeration, these kids got the entire school involved on this bullshit way of teaching the bully a lesson. Including the teachers, the principal, etc. You could, and SHOULD sue your school to the ground for this. This is actual malpractice. (Which means basically that a worker, especially that of a doctor, a lawyer, or you know. A school does their job in the most terrible ways. In this case, handling this bully in a terrible way.) This guy should actually sue the school for this.
