If that was my husband and he acting like that with our child after a traumatic injury or sold my dead father’s painting left to me I’d definitely leave.

The dad with the laundromat situation made me almost feel the same way with my dad. Now as a grown up, I see it's really hard to find other jobs without a chance in education in his life and really wishes us the best

I enjoyed the video, as always. I’m Chinese too, but don’t understand Mandarin. I only understand Cantonese when the dad was talking. The mom lost me when she was speaking Mandarin in this video. Great lesson. Never give up on your family.

This is so wholesome. I am a Hannah and I just recently healed from my concussion that lasted about it 5 months. I had a full fall on my neck during martial arts which resulted me in not memorizing a lot. It took a weeks to get back to school full time. My parents then realized that I started to read, type, speak, and spell a lot better. I come from what I thought was an average family. I didn’t realize until after I healed how grateful I should be that my family could afford all of the medical bills. My mother really had hope for me when my dad was putting pressure on me like if I don’t heal I won’t be able to achieve my dreams one day. This story is comparable to mine.

sending her to school basically as soon as she got out of the hospital is so wrong. i have a traumatic brain injury and i wasn’t able to go to school after for about a year after my injury.

Every Chinese boy I know is called Ryan I swear😂

Life lesson: if your parents aren’t proud of you for doing something that made you proud, that’s not good enough, go above and beyond and do what ever makes them happy/proud, bc your nothing without your parents validation!

Good lesson but I feel like he shouldn't suddenly be more affectionate to the daughter just cuz she became a genius (though she prob already was) but love her unconditionally.

Those were her last words before her brain injury but her last words in the video were actually "are you proud of me dad?" She regained her speech at the end of the video but it took lots of time but it's amazing how she regained lots of things back!
