TEDxUbud - Tah Riq Amawi - Taking a Leap: From Desktop to Rooftop

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Recorded at TEDxUbud on May 6th, 2011, at Gaya Fusion.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

I saw this like 7 years ago and just stumbled over it again... I have to admit that since ive seen this speech I got fixated on self developement and finding my passion(s). I can just encourage anyone to surround yourselves with people that lift you up, whatever you want do get done. Its all about determination and self-belief. And Tah Riq was one of the first persons Ive learned that from. So thank you so much for the lesson. And best wishes for all people out there wanting to transform their world by changing your perception of it. It really works! :)

Truly inspirational speech bro. Eloquent, emotional, extraordinary, weird thing is I can remember you doing this like it was yesterday. Point your mind and your body will follow, I leave you with the following quote: "Success is nothing more than few simple disciplines, practiced every day. Whilst failure is simply few errors in judgment, repeated every day. It is the accumulative weight of our disciplines and our judgments that lead us to either fortune or failure"

Tah Riq is amazingly insightful, multitalented man I am proud to call a friend. He is beautiful inside out and I'm really happy to see how many people realise his value in this world.

This needs to be seen world wide. Too many people now a days struggling and stressing about finances and rarely do i see someone who is truly happy. This goes right along with what Tim Shieff said, " Society's not always right." So with this video people will realize they dont need to live life according to the standards society has set in place. They just need to follow their own paths and truly embrace themselves and be who they really are. This video alone could create world peace.

I don't think anybody realises how much sense this is making to me right now. I should be revising for exams; I'm not. I'm a young teenager ripping my hands open & jumping off things. In 50 years time i may not be the richest or smartest. But i will never regret not revising as I'm doing something i enjoy. And this 20 minute video has just explained my meaning of life. Don't let your bad thoughts in your head shout over the small positive ones. Thanks do Danny and Tahriq, I'm not worrying.

This video puts into words all the feelings I've had about the world for so long. I'm about to start college in the fall and I can't help but question if that's the right path for me. I know what I love, I love doing parkour. I never had a desire to go to school, it always just felt like something that was expected of me. And now here I am, about to commit another 4 years and dive headfirst into a pool of debt, and I ask myself, "Is this what I should be doing?"

I lived in that basement for a decade and went blind from staring at the dark. A leap of faith. Learning to have faith now and it's a strange experience, but you've made me realize it's all steps on faith. Every step we take. Time to walk back into the light. Thank you for your words. They ring true and that's a sweet sweet sound. Truth has a pure ring like silver. I shall follow my own heart now. It lays the path before me. Great words Bard. Sing them and make them forever.

i'm on halfway leaving school, i've had felt stuck and when my parents asked me what i was gonna do with my future, i told them 'I don't know, i'll get a job - and after that? - i'll find an other' No clear plans, i'll just do what's the right for me at the time. and then i watched this video. I don't know if quitting school would be the best choice, but staying in it wouldn't be good either.. but your speak made me realise lots of things. i'd really like to get to know you better Tah Riq :D

Kristin. How can you say I only tried things I had talent for when the things I tried are so completely different and at times even opposed? Progress comes with your ability to recognise your own mistakes and self-correct. The quicker and more frequently you can do this the faster you progress. There is a marked difference between playing an instrument for an hour a day and practising an instrument for an hour a day. In moments like that, for some it's much easier to have a teacher who can do the corrections for you. If you are investing many hours but developing bad habits or rehearsing what you already know and enjoy doing you will make little progress. Progress is always on the edge of ones comfort zone. You have yet to discover your talent. Start by discovering what you enjoy doing most and the talent will follow. My two cents. Tah Riq

Great message and great presented. So far he only tried out things he happened to have talent for; that does not prove talent doesn't exist. I did much the same as him; invested thousands of hours in different areas I felt "obsessive" about. It worked out in some... but I also never saw any progress in some others, despite same focus, same commitment, same hard work, same belief.... so I learned there was also areas where I had no talent. Well, one at least ;-D
