TedxNashville - Roger Cook - I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing

Ойын-сауық

Roger will perform one of his first global hits on the very instrument he created the song. I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing was one of the first viral hits to ever span the globe and touched the lives of millions. He will reminisce about his extraordinary experience with a few recollections in his own inimitable style.

I met Roger Cook on Music Row here in Nashville in 1998. This Hall of Fame songwriter agreed to write with me,a complete unknown! And we are still writing together! Such a talented mentor and wealth of music history ! I think he prides his joke telling as much as his songwriting haha! I enjoyed this Tedx video thanks for sharing.

What a charming presentation -- I don't know how the audience could sit there without singing along! Perhaps they were too young to know the words...

Thank you for sharing this fascinating story. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it as a child. It gave me hope in a time when I didn’t particularly have any. I lived in a city where everyday I walked to school was a potential situation of being kidnapped or attacked by any number of miscreants. I knew this, could feel the violence around me at a very young age and lived in perpetual fear. But especially from my abusive parents. So when I heard this song, it opened up a well of hope inside me that I wasn’t aware of until then. It’s a beautiful, hopeful song which still brings me hope and joy.

Roger ...amazing to see you on TED so happy to see your still cutting it. It was around 25 years ago since you were last in Bristol introducing the song writing club at the Gallion, those times will always be an inspiration i continue still to this day songwriting ...... enjoyed our beers and chats at the White Lion pub. All the best !

& he was absolutely brilliant fronting the group Blue Mink with the wonderful Madeline Bell . I bought all their singles in the late 60s up until the mid 70s . They were all substantial British hits .
