TEDxMaastricht - Sophie van der Stap - "Girl with the nine wigs"
Sophie van der Stap was 21 years old when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. The girl with the nine wigs, her fresh and candid account of the illness, was a best-seller in Holland and got soon translated into 16 languages worldwide and was the inspiration for an international movie (to be released in 2012). A sequel, inspired on Herman Hesse's Siddhartha, followed. It's called 'A blue butterfly bids farewell' and talks about the journey after her illness. Sophie will take us along in her incredible and brave journey and inspires us to have strength and belief.

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. halt keinen Tiefgang in Sophies Person. Ich habe ihr Buch sogar 2x gelesen, weil ich gehofft habe, beim 2x fällt mir doch noch irgendwo, irgend etwas auf, das meine Meinung zumindest teilweise verändern könnte und das ist weder bei dem Buch, noch bei dem Buch "Alle Träume auf einmal" aufgefallen. Ich finde einfach keinen Bezug zu Sophies "Gummibärchenwelt". Aber ich denke, ich bin froh für sie dass sie gesund ist, überlebt hat und der Weg ist ja letzlich jedem selbst überlassen :-)

Also Suggi1985 ich kann dir ganz und gar nicht zustimmen. Ich war 19 als ich das erste mal Krebs bekommen hatte, nach 5 Monaten "gesund sein" kam er wieder zurück. Mittlerweile hab ich alle Therapien erfolgreich überstanden. Was ich in den letzten 2 Jahren mit Krebs gelernt habe ist, dass es jedes Mal anders ist. Ein anderes Gefühl einfach. Ob ich jetzt 19, 20 oder 21 bin. Also ist es bestimmt ein Unterschied ob man 21 oder 27 ist. Und was ich vor allem im Krankenhaus, durch die vielen verschiedenen Menschen, die ich dort getroffen habe, gelernt habe war, dass man niemanden vorschnell beurteilen kann und darf. Du hast vielleicht Sophie's Buch gelesen, aber du bist nicht in ihren Schuhen gelaufen. Warum also denken, sie hätte aus ihrer Krankheit nichts gelernt? (Hast du in ihren Kopf schauen können?) Du verurteilst Sophie, doch ich könnte dich ebenfalls für deine Fehlinterpretation ihres Buches und ihrer Vorträge verurteilen. Jeder geht seinen eigenen Weg und kennt sich selbst und sein Leben am besten. Jeder macht andere Erfahrungen und lernt andere Dinge. Und ich denke, darüber sollte man gar nicht diskutieren müssen.
Ja, da hast du recht. Auch bei solchen Themen erlauben sich viele eine Meinung die besser zu schweigen hätten. Dazu hätte ich auch ohne Krebs nicht gehört, jedoch kannst du das ja auch nicht wissen. Ich war 6 Jahre älter als Sophie und hatte dementsprechend komplett andere Gedanken und Sorgen. Ich fand es einfach dennoch schade, weil allein das Thema Sex auf so mannigfaltige, billige und häufige Weise erwähnt wurde, dass ich schnell des Lesens müde geworden bin. Alles in allem merkt man

Ich habe gefragt, weil sich manche hier so einen Kommentar auch erlauben würden, wenn sie keinen Krebs gehabt hätten. Du findest es oberflächlich - das stimmt sicher zum Teil. Andererseits ist sie halt wirklich erst 21 und kommt "aus einer Hippie-Familie" - da ist der Umgang mit diesen Dingen halt anders. Wichtig ist doch, dass über dieses Theman geprochen wird. Dass sich Mediziner (die bei dieser Veranstaltung waren) auch mit anderen Dingen als dem Krebs beschäftigen - dem Menschen. Oder?
