SWAG...PERIOD!❤
Teddy had that masculine vulnerability . The arrangement is of the tune is elite . I was in love with this song when I was just 8 yrs old 😂 . The music was so infectious .
I love seeing young folks reaction to the old school music. When you called yourself a musician back in the day you had to bring it because you performed live without help.
When Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes first came out everyone used to wonder who was singing in that group. We found out it was Teddy Pendergrass and not Harold melvin. Soon after that Teddy went out on his own.

THIS IS WHAT WE CALLED " SOUL ", BACK IN MY DAY !! -----------------RIP, TEDDY P.
Yes this song is so awesome, I also loved “the love I lost” with Harold Melvin and the blue notes
The beginning of the song music sounds like Barry White love unlimited orchestra.
Cool, TP made you smile :) My favorite soul singer ever. You would crack up at “Come Go With Me”, a total battle of the sexes song.
You can tell she really feeling this shit

***TEDDY "BEAR" TRIVIA TIME!!!*** ....I think I better let it GO..... ...Miss Empress, you are FINALLY reaching...one of THE most....THE MOST....IMPORTANT "Quiet Storm" tracks of ALL TIME, and, I cannot WAIT to share me trivia with you, on THIS one..... ...Teddy (in 1979) became One of THE most successful Male R&B Singers, of all time, and put out his Spring 1980 Album, 'TP"....It was a BIG budget affair, and the first single, was from a 1980 Movie called "Roadie" ("Can't We Try")...When he was working on the Album he needed a 'filler' track to complete production, and covered a David Oliver tune, called, "Love TKO"...... - ....GOOD CHOICE, Teddy....everyone...went....NUTS over this tune!! ...N-U-T-S! .....The label wanted to release it IMEEEDIATELY, because it was getting constant Radio play, at night, during....***THE "QUIET STORM" HOURS!!*** ...It was chosen as the 2nd single, and hit #2 R&B for 8 weeks (Nov. / Dec. 1980), behind "Master Blaster" by Stevie Wonder (for 2), & "Celebration" by Kool & The Gang (for 6)..... - and, Hunny, lemme tell ya...everyone covered this tune...E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E!!! ...a sampling... Regina Belle Michael McDonald Hall & Oates Bette Midler Clive Griffin Fourplay Boz Scaggs Jon Secada Seal Kenny Lattimore Xscape (feat. Kandi Burruss) Johnny Gill ...and many, MANY more! - ....so, by Spring 1981, Teddy was a SUPERSTAR....until his tragic Car accident, that left him paralyzed, March of 1982... I say it a LOT, but this time, it's TRUE....It's one of the MOST important "Quiet Storm" tunes, of ALLTIME, and it's Teddy's BIGGEST hit....it NEVER hit #1, but it's TEDDY'S SONG.....period.... Ah no wonder I think it's my fave from him ‼️ wow would love to hear the original version and totally sad shortly after this he would face permanent leg paralysis 😥
Sound of Philly Gamble and Huff
You need to play his biggest jams in "Closed the Door" and "Turn Off the Lights" The live versions. Also his duet with Stephanie Mills called "Feel the Fire" and then some "Is it Still Good to You"

@@EmpressReacts I saw it right after I commented! He lovely you need to react to Marlena Shaw "go away little boy" an urban classic back in the 70's.
Teddy one of the all time GREATS!!!🤩
Empress...can't believe u hadn't done this #1 song for me
This is all Philly Soul…Teddy didn’t stray far from that.

he said, "tired of getting beat up by love". added context, this was an era when boxing was one of the top sports in the world. nearly everyone in the country had a tv by this time, including poor folks in the south. ali, sugar ray leonard were superstars at this time.

lol now if you want to hear Teddy also at his best but with the opposite message . listen to I Don't Love You Anymore
Turn off the lights is probably his best solo
Stone cold back in the day...

If you request it on my patron I will
Auto-tune would help his voice not
Too much analysis and not enough simple deep down feelin'...

You're kidding! That's what I love about her. She's got the soul of a dang producer. Knows what she's listening to and deconstructs it lickety-split. May have missed her calling!
