Ted Talk : Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin: A hilarious celebration of lifelong female friendship

Legendary duo Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have been friends for decades. In a raw, tender and wide-ranging conversation hosted by Pat Mitchell, the three discuss longevity, feminism, the differences between male and female friendship, what it means to live well and women's role in future of our planet. "I don't even know what I would do without my women friends," Fonda says. "I exist because I have my women friends."

Jane and Lily, if we can form a Facebook site or some type of site that could be a Gathering Place for mature women who know how to get the power that we need to make the Deep changes that this country needs, could you be our two spokespersons? We could regain this country and make it truly truly great again! Please say, "yes". There is so much power and money and volunteer time just waiting to back you up and backup this thought. Please.

I found this to be very interesting. They both have something smart to say. Something intelligent and stimulating. It's so true what Jane just said! They're all telling us the technology just isn't quite there yet for renewable energy. I love these two and I love Grace and Frankie. I would LOVE to see Dolly Parton with a supporting role on G&F. I've watched these shows from beginning to end, all five available seasons several times through. They're right up there with The Golden Girls when it comes to lasting, quality television and quality, relevant acting!

I love these ladies they are smart and witty. It is embarrassing to see comments from males here. Blaming her for Liberals for Vietname. I am from that era and my brother died from results of Vietnam - And to blame a person or liberals is to take blame from all that happened in that time. No wonder women cannot stand most of us... We cause the greatest wars, we blame others. Disgusting! Do you hear yourselves talk. Came to listen to TEd Talks because its the only place to see anything important anymore. I second Lily's statement on how we NEED women more present and proactive- showing what we can bring to the table, and then there's Jane's statements on how 'gender equality' is a tide that is able to lift all boats to see a bit higher! Very pleased that she is echoeing the notion of raising and elevating the spirits of both sexes. the toxic masculinity and Patriarchy has done plenty damage not just to women, but also to men all over the world. Ask any man if they'd stand up for what's right and just and they'd say Yeah. all men aspire to be good men, and satisfy a high standard!! Feminist efforts for a better world would no doubt require to have this function: looking out for men just as much as women, because feminism-terminology aside- is really not a quest for female dominance or superiority, rather for me it translates to seeking harmony, and the freedom from much of non-sense gender constructions, macho preservations, submissions to another's orders without purpose or understanding. And all the power-trips men and women alike feel when they make another bow to their wishes, which is essentially an act of coersion stemming from a perceived threat. We recognize that harmony is not restored until perceived threats are gone from people's minds.. and a day where men and women realize they are meant to be, and are actually better off forming a force together, not against one another.

I love these two ladies...I've been a fan of Jane and Lily since the '70s, and they get better and better. In response to what she was saying at around (11:00 mins) I say that ... Men proving their manliness...We 'Birth men' we pit men/boys against each other from an early age ...as women, we are naturally territorial and possessive and catty! And the "My son is better than your son's"... has been a kind of rhetoric for the ages...We as Mother, train men to be men! Find a Man who loves his Mother and you got a great guy, Men need WOMEN! ... I love My girlfriends too. Jane so thank you for that information about the importance of close relationships and friends! The most I can get right now is a three word text! You're lucky to have found each other when you were young...it gets harder to maintain relationships past a certain age as either; the economics have changed, people get married have kids, grandkids, and Move ...and who has time for tea when you're fighting traffic on the 405 fwy!

Why does one way or another have to be better? My son was all boy from the day he was born, and I could not have changed that, and my daughter is overly open with her feelings either, but that may change as she gets older. We don't try to make girls more macho. But again, I can respect that they disagree,. I have a great deal of respect and love for these two women and their friend Dolly Parton. I laughed at.Lily ,as Ernestine. I exercised with Jane on her videos I always liked Dolly. She's always been herself and very gracious and generous and I love she has a temple in her bedroom on her bus.

She's talking about holding her pee in... geesh... They were talking about how much they laughed when they made 9 to 5. I'm sure you're familiar with the expression "laughed until I peed myself!" That's to what Jane was referring. Even if Lily ran with it by saying "WE know what you mean!"

Woh, easy there. Of course she was not talking dirty, but it was an intended joke and was well received by Lily and the audience. I'm simply appreciating her humor as a fan. :)

Get your mind out of the gutter buddy. When women laugh, they pee a little sometimes. That's what she was referring to. God.

Lily Tomlin. You’re amazing. Not saying that ms Fonda isn’t, but she’s been brought up to speak and be observed. Lily Tomlin owns this by her sheer quiet observance and her funny and poignant interventions x Delicious viewing x

In 24 hours it will be the year 2020. . . as I am writing this. The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women was written in 1972. . .there are still TWO countries that have not Ratified that international law convention. .. the Island of Palau and the United States! For the entire rest of the world, it is the law and there are responsibilities like reporting each year to the UN what your nation is doing to uphold and reach the goals set. Everyone is on board except for the US and Palau.

This is Jim’s wife. I must make a comment about Janet’s gold ring that she wore in Grace and Frankie and has on now. I love that gold ring. I have tried to find one similar but with no luck. Jane and Lilly are talking to Pat about getting old and dying and I am around the same age as Jane. I see Jane as a strong tower in the same thing as me. I look up to her because she has the guts to say what I would love to have the same opportunity to share. Genesis 1:28 reveals that God gave the responsibility to man to subdue the earth. For me that means to take care of it. Sadly, because man has cast aside Gods request, take a look at us now. I believe at all followers of Christ should be environmentalists. Love you Jane. I would love to meet you in person one fine day.

Brilliant it's well known fact women are way stronger than men thanks ladies for ur insight in modern times and the environment is way up there that we need to change the way we live for the future of our young society and men need to learn to be more open about feelings without harming there masculinity xx🤩❤
