Um, no he wouldn't have. He was a dedicated Congressman who was able to work legislations and issues behind the scenes but no way could he have been the face of the nation.

i always had the feeling that ted kennedy spent the last 40 years of his life trying to live down the first 40. i think that part of what went on in his life was related to his father, family, childhood. i think joe and rose told their kids they were special, and that the rules the rest of us follow, didn't necessarily apply to them. i think chappaquiddick, as horrible as it was and as wrong as he was, was an eye-opener. and he spent the rest of his life trying to make up for it.

I suppose I should point out that most Democrats are either Progressive Christian or Catholic. While there are a fair number of Atheists in the party, it seems that a majority of them are Independents.

Whoa, don't give him any ammunition. If he's acting like an idiot, just remain calm and don't let the insults get to you. Say what you need to say in a calm and respectful manner (without digression or insults, and you'll ultimately make him look like the loser he clearly is. Trust me, it works all the time around here.

To be an Atheist, you have to have no belief in God or any form of a higher power, spirituality, etc. To be excommunicated from the Catholic Church is to be kicked out of the church. If they wanted, I suppose they could continue as a practicing Catholic. It's a very big difference between Atheism and Excommunication.
