Senator Kennedy chose public service when he could have retreated to a comfortable life, served for decades in a difficult job for those who are poor and vulnerable in our society. Sacrificing time, health and energy as a duty in gratitude and love for his beloved Massachusettes and America. Sacrifice, duty, family, hard work, these are no longer in fashion but I'm glad I have those values instilled by my father through his example. Sen. Kennedy battled with alcoholism for many years but never gave up on us. May he rest in peace.

Wow. There’s too much hate to bring about peace rn. Before speaking ill of someone can we just take a moment to remember they’re human? 🙏🏽

I couldn't agree with you more...he will be missed and I pray that the one thing he so much wanted to see happen...happens...because like he said..it should be a right..not a privilege! He will be missed. And..as far as what happened to Mary Jo....that is between him and God...and I'm sure he had to live with that..who out there dare judge.....no one..no one is perfect...let all this finally rest in peace

Go tear someone down who has harmed you personally, instead of a politician who is no longer alive. I doubt if he was joking about blondes in ponds, either.

I am a Conservative Republican who hasn't always agreed with Senator Kennedy's positions. When I look at his life now in total, I see he tried to make this country a better place. I admire and respect him for dedicating his life to this cause. If you have nothing to say respectfully in regards to him here then please move on.

Ted did not paint everyone with the same brush and neither do I. The problem with this country is both the far left and far right have "blinders" on, they operate in a vacuum. If we are to survive in this dangerous world we need to find common ground between us. The way to do that is always to take the high road my friend. Good Luck

The last of that generation of Kennedys. With his sister just passing. Now it is done. There is so much controversy and uncertainty about the true nature of the family. Yet the tides roll in on the Cape Cod shore. As a New Englander, I can only say.. God Bless The Kennedys.

I'm sure that as Ms. Kopechne looks upon the Senator's efforts on behalf of the poor and the left behind, she prays for Ted Kennedy at the feet of God and awaits his arrival--at a time of God's choosing--into the kingdom of God.

One of the most extraordinary senators in our country's history. A man who made mistakes, some of them terrible, but who learned from them. A man who was always there for his children, his nieces and his nephews. A man who came to treasure his faith and to use it as a springboard to advocate for the less fortunate. And a man who now rejoices with his parents, brothers and sisters in Heaven. Every American, regardless of what region they live in, what religion they practice or what political party they identify with, is better off for the efforts of Edward Kennedy. Rest in God's peace, Senator.

One thing about Ted, he was able to find common ground with the Republicans. Ted would not be pleased with your comments "BlameRepublicans". He had many Republican friends and I never heard him speak evil of anyone, So please, in his memory, Knock it off.

"THE TRUE STORY OF A DRUNK TEDDY." The events of the night of July 18, 1969 Mary Jo Kopechne found herself with a very drunk Ted Kennedy. He drove off the bridge in Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts. After the body was found by local fishermen, Kennedy gave a statement to police saying that on the previous night Kopechne was his passenger when he took and drove his car off a bridge into the water. Later, he pleaded guilty to a charge of leaving the scene, not murder?
