@@ginad1494 Lol... really... Yes, Bundy was smart, but he was not a genius... and only got in Law thanks to his political contacts... You obviously don't understand that Bundy dropped out of Law School after ONE year, just as he had dropped out of his Chinese studies and some other University courses that he failed at. Although he did finally get his bachelors degree in psychology. First year Law School which is really only 6 months of studies, teaches Constitutional Law, Contract law, Real property, Civil Procedure, Tort, legal writing and research, oh and some Criminal Law... lol.. When your life is at stake because you are charged with murdering multiple people, beheading them, have sex with their decomposing bodies and other horrendous crimes, you want a lawyer who has finished an undergraduate degree, (which he did), and then got his Juris Doctor (Law degree) and passed the bar exams... Which Bundy never did. You also want your lawyer to have experience and a few trials behind him!!! Juris is 3 years of studies... not one semester... Having the "basics" just DOES NOT cut it... He had no idea what he was doing. The judge praised him because Bundy was a charmer and knew how to be likable.

Thanks, Ted. 35 years after your death, your disgusting indulgences are influencing the way I conduct myself as a young female in this world -can’t even be kind to a nice person out of fear for my own safety.

The terrifying thing about Bundy is that he was charming, attractive, well spoken, well dressed, and respectful toward people in public. That, to me, is what makes him the most terrifying of all of them. He seemed like a normal person to most. More than normal, he attracted people. He even had a stint in politics. He wasn't the "typical profile" of a serial killer of his kind.

Honestly killers are like that i.e. appear too be normal, just that they're still sociopath's so cracks begin too show. Think about it if a killer actually acted like a character Hannibal Lector he'd be found out real quick. Movies have made people think cereal killers are insane lunatics. They aren't it would mean they would have no concept of reality. Hell John Wayne Gacy fooled people for years as he came across as your typical run of the mill neighbour

I think it's really interesting how we tend to distance ourselves from the recent past and feel alienated by historical events that took place at any point before we were born. It's the same with slavery or the sinking of the Titanic, my friend's grandma told us the story of *her* grandma's life of slavery and another friend's father told us about how his grandpa killed his master. 😅🤷🏼‍♀️👌 And there are still living World War II vets and Holocaust survivors. The amount of armchair psychologists in the comment section saying "you can clearly tell that he's a psychopath " are a riot. Yeah, in hindsight it is pretty easy to say that there is something wrong with him psychologically, already knowing what he did and given the fact that he's in the courtroom in this video. However, if the circumstances were different and you met him in a campus or in a pub or in any other everyday place it would be really hard to discern his true self and differentiate him from a normal confident and well spoken man. At most you would think he is a bit arrogant.

When I first learned about Ted I was seven. I knew, from my dad, that he was some type of a maniac. As a matter of fact, I thought that Ted was so out of control, that he’d attack any women in the witness booth and courtroom. I was shocked when I heard he made it through the trial and was found guilty. He was given the death sentence. I was very young, but I was fascinated by him. My dad called me his “ little serial murder son”. I grew up reading about murderers and horrible people from the Sunday paper. Ahh to be young and innocent! If I’d have known the extent of Mr. Bundy’s crimes, I’d have spit on the floor and cursed him.

The reason most people nowadays don't consider him charming or good-looking is based purely on the fact that they know what he did. Abstract that from his actions, which is very hard to do, you can see that he has a certain charisma and is quite intruiging. A lot of sociopaths and psychopaths are charming and interesting and they are brilliant at luring people into themselves because they have to be. They lack empathy and sympathy but they make up for it. Bundy had stated that he didn't consider himself attractive, but he knew of his charming mannerisms. He may seem cocky now but back then to many he didn't. We judge mostly on retrospective knowledge but honestly: Had I been alive back then, I don't know how I would have viewed him, maybe I would have thought him to be nice, maybe even attractive. But as I live in 2019 and know him for what he was, I can truthfully say, that Ted Bundy is evil, but still, somehow charming.

It is actually quite handy being able to separate between his tools and his actions, for one can see how he used one to trigger the other and actually learn something about behaviourism in regards to criminal sociology. It is hard to pass sentence on serial killers because of their apparent mental impairment yet complete awareness of their own actions. What weighs more? The psychopathy or the functioning intellect? It's a very touchy subject. It is rightfully prohibited to murder or physically harm people and it is also right to keep those who act harmful to others away from society. But in what way? I am absolutely opposed to capital punishment so it can either be imprisonment or institutionalising them.

Hi Glen. Thank you for standing up for women. I have been pondering this a lot: what made him do this to female strangers. I've been traumatized after hearing the gruesome details that every time I look at a man, especially if he seems extremely & unsuspectingly innocent or good-looking, I see, in place of his face, the face of Ted Bundy and I get involuntarily terrified. How can girls be so borderline gullible to dote on a pitied man such as him? Someone who objectified an innocent female human that he choked her in such an inhumane way that her neck became less than half of its normal size? Someone who so remorselessly penetrated his carcass victims to the point that their ORGANS fell out? You know, Ted Bundy and people like him who, on a spectrum, objectify women, may have delusions of grandeur and reckon that, by brutalizing someone 18 times more feeble than himself, he's STRONG. That he's achieved or conquered something. He's done all of that but there's one thing he could never do: to love his self-perceived enemies who for some reason are women. Any man can give in to his animalistic instincts--which only proves he's weak. Because he's conquered everyone weaker than him but couldn't conquer himself. Couldn't face anything. Couldn't choose to love someone who, to him, didn't deserve to be loved--like women. But that's why that despite the inner and inevitable resentment and numbness I started harboring towards anyone remotely resembling him, I choose to love him. I choose to pray for people like him. I conquer him with love. It would've been a million times easier for Jesus on the cross to bash out against his mockers, but instead he prayed they be saved. I've truly realized how the least (the seemingly smallest, the humblest) among us all is the greatest. It indeed grieves my heart unimaginably thinking of what he did, because, despite all he thought he gained, he has lost the most precious thing, and that is himself.

@Tommy De Sadi Maybe..Where does any fetish come from? It came out as time went on, that Ted was a bit of a boozer as well. My theory is he had the obsession/compulsion problem of being an addict/alcoholic..Sex was one of his addictions, and his fetish was extreme power exchanges, the most extreme being killing your sexual partner for your own gratification. To complete this demented triangle to create a Ted Bundy was psychopathy/socioapthy..The inability to empathize on a deep level. A sex addict with a perverse sadistic sexual fetish that has a hard time feeling anyone's needs but his own. Bake for 21 years and you get a Ted Bundy, a very rare, very dangerous human. What makes him even more mind boggling is that ontop of this triad, he had a relatively high IQ and social awareness(again, not social empathy). There are probably tens of thousands of Teds out there but for one of these five attributes, and so, they dont make the news, or make it once. If we choose to look at it fatalstically, he won the worst powerball lottery one can win.

It is rather chilling because there's nothing which invites him to smile at all, other than the fact he's taking the stand as a defense witness in his own trial. I think in his mind it was a sick game and he thought he was so smart and superior to all those in the court, he would get off on a legal technicality. Hence the smile. Another theory is he could have been smiling reminding himself that he killed 30 plus young women and these idiots have allowed him to defend himself and are treating him like he's a lawyer rather than a serial killer.

True story. My mom told me she was in the lobby of an auto shop having her Volkswagen beetle worked on. Pittsburgh area. A good looking man was in there waiting as well. Noticed her car when she came in and said "hi nice VW i have one as well...would you like to get coffee sometime?" My mother said "oh no, i'm seeing a man but thank you" (who is now my father) She explained that the man was nice, well kept together and well spoken. Carried conversation normally after with small talk but got up and left peacefully when his car was finished. Later that year she saw him on the news as things began to unfold and she goes "That man asked me to coffee in the auto shop!" No doubt it was Ted Bundy in that auto lobby shop.
