It is a gift she was born with. There are other people born with such a gift, but never get to utilize it because they don’t pursue music or poetry or some other medium to express that gift. But there are also plenty of technically proficient musicians out there who could not write such good music or lyrics. She was lucky enough to have both abilities, and dedicated enough to work at it

I saw Phoebe open up for Conor Oberst early on in a cathedral in Los Angeles. I knew immediately she was one of the next greatest singer songwriters, the same way I would’ve known it if I had seen this amazing video live. It’s just so rare when a certain artist strikes such a powerful chord. So happy for her success.
