Technology and the Future of Theatre | Sarah Ellis | TEDxLondonBusinessSchool
Art and technology are often seen as distinct disciplines. But combining them results in magic. Sarah Ellis, the Director of Digital Development at the Royal Shakespeare Company, teaches us how technology is reimagining the experience of theatre, taking it beyond the stage and into our living rooms. As an award-winning producer, Sarah Ellis currently works as Director of Digital Development for the Royal Shakespeare Company to explore new artistic initiatives and partnerships.
The latest partnership for the RSC is the Audience of the Future Live Performance Demonstrator funded by Innovate UK - a consortium consisting of arts organisations, research partners and technology companies to explore the future of performances and real-time immersive experiences. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

We artists adapt, we don’t ever give up on what we love. When there is a will we make a way eventually. Arts art just as important.
I love the theater; I saw an augmented production at Disneyland and it was amazing! Excited for this ❤️
It's a really interesting technology! Never thought of how AR/VR(?) can be applied into performances and theatre. I'm so looking forward to be able to see performances maybe one day at home. But I have a side question: how will this kind of technology adaptation affect the employees' income? For example, the actors, the music producers, the poets... It sounds like a one-time group effort that can be repeatedly used and sold in the future for countless time and to people all over the world. How will the whole field of theater performing be influenced?
Worth watching and listening to!
Looking forward to seeing Sarah at MoCo'24 in Utrecht!
I love this! I’ve been wondering how theater will make it through COVID and this is so thoughtful
Thank you
I ❤ London very much
This is really one of the wondering thing in this update and ICT base world.
В день 8 *МАРТА* 🌹 Я желаю Вам так сильно ❤ Пусть сбывается мечта🙏 Счастья в дом вам, добра 😜
It sucks because I was literally just about to present a similar idea to the Royal Shakespeare Company, with a virtual theatre
Probably like 27th idk
Totally disturb by what I just saw on this Ted talk. This might be your new reality. Hopefully not everyone else’s. I am for the pro human way of life, with real social interactions it’s one thing to use these technologies in making movies, but a whole other animal In live theatre. I hope theatre actors are outraged by the thought!!!!

Great insight fo the futurecatrer and possibilities to those scared about career changes and use of personal talent or skills that recently become difficult during the COVID19.
Sickness to agree to be separated agreeing and accepting the stripping of a natural way of being. We are social beings. We are being ripped apart. Nothing is cool or ok or has my agreement. Ripping people apart is not advancement it is a way to destroy human identity.

"Low tech" are future technologies. Coz Everyone will have potential to use it every days ... notnonly rich countries people ... no matter what dem say or do
❤️✍️📖🎥💙💜🎬Some people say Shakespeare would have wanted to be a filmmaker. We should use technology more to bring theatre to the audience.❤️🌹🍬💜🧁💜🍬❤️🧡

I think Theatre won't die at all despite Technology. it's only Covid that affects Theatre. I hope it's temporary.

Theatre is full of engineers ... they are not poets, but work with them, just as the actors, directors etc are not engineers, but work with them ....
Tecnolgy is increasing
Yeah sure do one thing make AR food and start eating it😑, no matter how much you romanticize it technology can never take place of the real experience. All this is only for when we don't have any option, like this pandemic.

Because of the pandemic, theatres are kinda forced to accept technology into streaming.
