FREE Guide - Learn how to finish at least one great-sounding song per month: pickyourself.com/framework
In this video, you'll discover how to create an amazing-sounding Techno Rumble kick and bass sound by using this simple but effective effects chain. My name is Philip from Pick Yourself, and I've created this channel to help electronic music producers like you make meaningful progress with their music.
Are you an electronic music producer in a genre like Techno, House, and EDM, you're in the right place! Today, I'll be sharing some insider tips and tricks to help you craft the perfect Techno rumble kick and bass sounds using Ableton Live. You can mimic this process in all other popular digital audio workstations like FL Studio, Logic Pro, and Cubase.
Firstly, I'll show you how to create a simple yet powerful Techno rumble. We'll explore the essential parameters to manipulate, such as frequencies, envelopes, and saturation, to achieve that signature rumble that will make your tracks stand out. Say goodbye to generic kicks and basslines!
We'll then take this rumble to the next level. I'll introduce you to a technique that will help you separate the rumble from the kick drum, allowing both elements to shine individually. This way, you can achieve a tight and punchy kick sound while preserving the distinctive rumble that gives your track that extra edge.
Lastly, I'll reveal my favorite trick to add texture to the rumble kick by applying a unique effects chain. We'll explore various audio effects, such as distortion, modulation, and spatial processing, to create depth and character in your kick and bass sounds. Get ready to unlock a world of sonic possibilities!

    Another fantastic video Philip! You have become my go to resource for everything music production :) I think what really sets you apart from other channels is how well you explain each step of your process. It has helped me think more critically about my decisions, and as a result have seen drastic improvements in both the quality of my work and my productivity.

    Hey Philip! First of all, thank you for the amazing videos, you are definitely helping me to achieve the sound that I want to. I'm seeing a lot of results thanks to your tutorials! That being said, what reverbs outside of hybrid Reverb from ableton do you think are good for making a rumble? Just a curiosity! Thank you again, and sorry for any mistakes in my english! Keep it up, cheers from Brazil!!

    Cool Guide, thanks. Interesting point about the phase cancellation, I wonder if a pitch change device at the start of the rumble chain set to a small value would negate this issue 🤔 BTW you have a slight high pitched whine on your vocal on this video, maybe a noisy computer or something?

  • @pickyourselfofficial

    @pickyourselfofficial

    A small value might just introduce so-called comb-filtering. But hey, that stuff can also sound cool so it’s always worth a try! Thanks for the feedback on the vocal. Not sure what it might be but I’ll try to find out so it doesn’t happen again!

    Why do we have to reverse the kick sample? And not add a reverb on the un-reversed version of it?

    Hello sir, I wondered if you experimented with the free max for life instrument 'tree synth' to create a rumbly bass. This instrument has so many harmonies in one sound and you could obviously shape them and side-chain the shaper to the kick. Let me know if you give it a try as I am curious to see the results!

    Damn, hard to know where exactly your problem comes from. Another option would be to simply import the kick sample on a new audio track and then reverse it.

    @@sac5608 I dont think thats true. Please correct me if I am wrong. If the rumble doesnt have a key, it means you could create the upper synths for your leads in any key and it fit in the track But I don't think that is the case right? Unless you are saying that you have to select the key of kick first and the reverb for the rumble will then follow the key then it makes sense. take for example the song DAJE by t78. The rumble must match the key of the vocals no?

  • @sac5608

    @sac5608

    2 ай бұрын

    @@mohammadalif3650 yeah you are mostly right but the key should be the fundamental harmonic, since you cant find it there isnt a key. there's a famous saying techno doesn't have to be in key. just do what sound right to your ears. if you have to be particular don't use rumble bass and you can follow keys and scales.
