Techniques I use for hunting White Sea Bass

The first dive of the season is all about targeting fish. Finally, the conditions were good enough to attempt landing a White Sea Bass. For the past two months, shore diving conditions have either been rough or hampered by inconvenient weekend rain. Despite the murky water, I hope you enjoy this video of my attempt at landing a White Sea Bass.
Here is the clip that got some traction in regards to area/spot burning:

I didn’t realize pelagic fishing is ok in the SMCA area. Thank you.

Great to see you back! I always found the southern portion of PV to be murky. I remember seeing yellow tail in the kelp forests around the old Marine Land cove. Could never get close to them though. They are super wary.

Good to be back! I have actually never seen Yellowtail off any of my shore dive on the mainland. Waiting for the day!

Sorry to hear about the backlash from the local community on that other video. I watched it and wouldn't know where those spots were unless I was familiar with the area. Out of towners would never find those areas, but you can always blur out the background to be safe. Awesome videos, keep it up!

No worries at all. I know it is touchy topic so I wasn't too surprised about some of the reaction I got. Thank you for the kind words. Dive safe!

You are not alone. Visibility has been really rough for shore divers over the past weeks. I have heard that it may be from the red tide primarily, but even if the red tide was gone the surf hasn't been great (2ft or lower), which doesn't give particulates time to settle. Just not a easy season for shore divers IMO

Are they mad about the video where you blurred out the background but didn’t blur out the most distinct building in the whole area

I had taken a selfie video in the car on the freeway saying I am trying to land a White Sea Bass in [fishing area]. I didn't say a specific spot but a general area that is widely known to hold WSB.

Very true. I don't enjoy diving in low vis but I have seen so many videos of monsters being caught in low vis that I had to try. Appreciate the words of encouragement. Thank you!
