Technique Talk #1: Tone, Tongue and Air
In this video I am discussing how the tongue influences the sound when it is an active component in the embouchure and how I demonstrate how a more vibrant tone is produced by reducing the amount of air being used.

Glad it was helpful! I took this video down for a while because it wasn’t well received… it’s a kind of new way of understanding things but for me it rings true.
Excellent!!
thank you for this video, i' am changing my embochure, and i am testing this method. I have see that : with the spit buzz all is ok but when i put the mouthpiece on the lips, the tongue go backwords, detaching from the lower lip. Is it ok from starting? And how can i mantein in contact tongue e lower lip? Thank you

This is exactly the challenge with learning about TCE. Jerome Callet wasn’t known for answering this question well. The approach I take is with “stepping stones”. Learn to articulate by striking the top lip with the tip of the tongue first. Over time it will become easier to adopt the anchored tongue position. There are exercises you can practise that will help you to develop the strength in the tongue to keep it in the forward position all of the time.

@@BrassPractice thank you, i write you a mail
Do you roll your bottom lip in over your teeth?

Not really, the bottom lip comes in and meets the forward tongue, which is between the teeth.

I do it because I love to get insulting comments on 5-year-old videos from people who know nothing about me. Thank you.
