Maui!!🤙🏾 flying down kings trail is no joke… saw a few people get bloodied pretty bad trying to run down that… guess they should’ve watched the tips. Hope you and serious runner enjoyed your runcation🤙🏾
Nice tips. No joke about the disclaimer about being careful and getting injured. I got a little to confident the other day, lost balance, and flew into a tree smacking my knee. Now I'm here watching videos about running instead of running 🤣
From the book Born to Run, I remember a quote from Caballo Blanco: “Think Easy, Light, Smooth, and Fast. You start with easy, because if that’s all you get, that’s not so bad. Then work on light. Make it effortless, like you don’t give a shit how high the hill is or how far you’ve got to go. When you’ve practiced that so long that you forget you’re practicing, you work on making it smooooooth. You won’t have to worry about the last one - you get those three, and you’ll be fast.”
Having a background in dance definitely gives you an advantage.

agreed!
This is the best downhill tutorial Ive seen! Already using these tips. Thank you so much Sage! Having said that. I know you have done uphill tutorials. But can you do one in this format? So useful. Thanks again!
I hope I can remember these tips once I'm back on the trails. Thanks! 👍🏻🏃♂️
This trail is quite technical and there is a good chance to twist the ankle at any step :)

No Risk it No Biscuit:)
I love to run down from mountains, it's the best sport ever. I have to stay focused on my feet every second to prevent spraining my ankle
I love this style of video; short, direct and to the point! And it's very informative and helpful.
Loved this, thanks! Enjoy your beautiful vacation!
Honestly I would be mesmerized by that stunning Hawaiian landscape and forget how to do anything else.
that's some gnarly downhills! might i add #4 - fasten your laces really tight.
Nice views. I think I lost a golf ball in one of those gullies a few years ago..... lol.
Loved it! Thanks as always!
Thanks for posting. As a run leader I've often been struck by the fact that improving runners focus on the need to train on uphill and level courses without considering that practising downhills might make them faster.
great tips!! thanks!
Great point about the arms - I always think of a cat running along a ledge. The tail goes all over the place as a counterbalance.
another tip is to have gripy-high traction shoes. I run with the Sucany Perigrine's 11's . these shoes are great for the downhills!
I really like this style of video. Great as always!
0:52, dabbing it is!
Very useful. Thanks
Nice to see You Sage in good shape🙂
Thanks heaps Sage, I think I was one of the people that asked for this. Technical downhill is always going to be my biggest fear even with these tips, but I appreciate the advice.
I always tell myself to 'think like a gazelle'! haha!
I like this videos
This is great, I have a fast 5k trail race this Saturday! I also raced two weeks ago and sprained my ankle kinda bad but it miraculous healed up!

How’d it go?
How I wish this had come out a couple of months earlier. I went for a technical mountain race without the benefits of these insights and lost big time coming down the hills. DNF result 😭. But Sage, will you please share some tips about how to brake while running down the hills?
My friends always take the piss out of me for moving my arms weirdly on downhills :) but now I can show them this video and tell them that it is actually the correct technique 😹👍🏼✌🏼
I’m a leisure trail runner. I’m doing all these tricks but sometimes ppl think I’m insane swinging my arms around 😂

They think you're running away from an animal 😂
Any tips for when the trail is downhill and it’s kinda wet/muddy/has wet leaves on it?
Ive been trail running for almost a decade now but I still get the fear of falling if I manage to get in a groove. Going downhill on a rocky/pebbly path I tend to brake sometimes. How do I stop myself stopping on really long sections? They can last 5 minutes at a time (that’s what it feels like anyway).
If I run like this downhill I will die 😭
Quick-someone tag Seth DeMoor! 😜
Concentrate! Downhill is not the time for sightseeing.
