Refreshing to hear common sense and simplicity in a draw length explanation. After spending 5 minutes searching draw length on archery talk you’ll want to jump out a damn window. “HoWs mY FoRm????”

My actual “measured” draw length on my Mathews TRX …Measured from the throat of the grip of the riser (side plates, not the engage grip) to the nocking point of the string at full draw… with mods for a 28” draw measured 26&5/8” … with mods for a 27.5” draw, it measures 26&3/8”… you get the “ATA” draw length (which is what the bows advertise the draw length as) by taking the actual measurement I explained above and adding 1&3/4”…. So that puts my mathews actual draw length I’ve a half inch longer then the mods say… (both my Mathews V3 31 and my TRX 36 do this)…. Because of the string angle, I shoot a 1/2” loop on my hunting bow with 28” mods and shoot a 5/8” loop on my target bow… I have the string come further back on my hunting bow to try to keep my head up some when I come to put my nose on the string.. I originally had the 28” mods on the trx and the draw “felt” best when I added a twist to the string, ran a 1/2 loop and had a “grip” tape on it… but I’m not to concerned with speed on that bow and wanted a slightly longer loop for comfort and forgiveness in release torque and head placement with the larger string angle and I more defined edges on the grip… so I put on the 27.5” mods, removed the added twist, removed the grip tape, went to a hair over 5/8” loop,

Great info brother I have seen a lot of people shoot in front of a reputable bow tech or trainer what have you only to find that they're either and inch or a half inch off where they should be. Thanks for all you do God bless!

This measurement really does work. Do have to take it as a starting point though. I measure 27.9" after the calculation. After shooting and checking my form, I adjusted and ended up at 28 5/8 at my d-loop. But, that is after I swapped my grip out for a Ultraview grip which extends your draw length a good bit. Just some thoughts
