That's what my family does. No phones and no tablets for the kids. Only supervised PC use with strong internet filtering (whitelisting works much better than blacklisting).

As a parent of two adult children born before social media.You have to stay interested and focus on your kids because if you don't and remember kids want to explore and feel wanted.Need protection it's our job to be there and have the right to sue them.

Hearing the girl talk about people having harassed her from seeing the CSAM of her broke my heart. My child was sexually abused as an infant despite my trying to stop it and the abuser took photos and video of the abuse. My ex lied to the courts and stole custody from me. CPS and a child advocacy group both said "nothing has happened so we can't do anything for you." My boyfriend and I have already agreed our kids will bot have social media or cell phones until they are old enough to be responsible and we will monitor everything. I'm still getting mail from the feds informing me of another case where someone was found with CSAM of my child and I live in fear of someone recognizing my child from the material. But that is why it's up to us as parents to be parents to our kids. They didn't ask to be here and it's our responsibility to be there to protect them.

The parent are to blame if they parent their children instead of giving them a device every thing will be ok

If i worked behind th scene's on thse platforms no one could buy me off. They will go down for their wickedness. Some of us can't be bought off and are not afraid to stand up for what is right. The people who are suppoed to be taking this down are in on it and condone it. I say fire them all and hire people without questionable morals. Smart people are needed, to see through the wool that is layed over our eyes.

Why do they not make it law for everyone over 12 to have their finger prints on a data base so that you use your finger prints to down load an app and use anything on the app. This way it could be monitored easily

the funny thing is, the acts that they put out are basically asking for social media companies to implement features so parents can oversee their kids accounts and dms and everything about it, basically what free monitoring apps for kids already do. Parents need to be more responsible. Responsible parents do not allow their child/children to be exposed to unsavory situations. Blaming an ice cream company for making a product that children crave is not the fault of the company. it is for parents to raise responsible children who can curb their enthusiasm and employ caution and self-control. A parent whose excuse is that technology is difficult or that it is too complicated and time-consuming has no right to have kids to begin with. Parents need to be held accountable for giving their child/children access to smart devices that they are unfamiliar with. Laws to ensure safety on the net is great. Laws to enforce parental responsibility are even better.
